Marvel is rebranding its TV shows to show fans that they don't necessarily have to watch everything in order to understand what's going on. “The hope is that, like the comics, you can just pop in anywhere and have a satisfying experience. We’re trying to dispel the idea that you need to do any kind of setup work to watch anything else,” says Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's head of streaming, TV and animation. Here's more detail from Variety. What's your take on the MCU these days?

Just 18% of respondents to this poll say they watch pretty much everything Marvel does, with 42% dipping in and out and almost as many (36%) saying they're done with the MCU. What's with the disillusionment? People don't want to feel like keeping up with the movies is their part-time job. "I don't want to have to do homework before I watch entertainment," @billyjoebowers said. Fingers crossed future MCU projects will be extra credit, not compulsory.

@CultureDesk @billyjoebowers I wouldn’t mind keeping up if the stories felt different and took more story-telling risks. The sameness and lack of depth got super boring. Even if the quality fluctuated or the stories didn’t always land for me, it would have been better than the surface-level stories that never got deeper than “look at our snarky action heroes.”

@queenofnewyork @billyjoebowers Not enough "WandaVision," too much "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

@CultureDesk Understanding a movie should not be a full-time job.

@CultureDesk I got Marvel fatigue.

The MCU was a brilliant conception. I totally enjoyed the ride, but haven't watched another film after Endgame. Those that followed just feel like cash grabs. Hard to re-spark the magic that came before.

I watched some series, Mandalorian, Hawkeye, WandaVision. I loved the Netflix Marvel shows, and both Agents of Shield and Agent Carter.

But it feels like an insurmountable burden to keep up anymore. So I just don't.

@Kojo62 Absolutely — it's supposed to be entertainment, not work!

@CultureDesk

I've never watched any Marvel TV, and only a couple of movies, because I don't want to have to do homework before I watch entertainment.

So they're on the right track as far as I'm concerned.

@billyjoebowers Yes, that was very much the vibe for a good while — feeling like you can't progress to Phase 6 if you haven't passed Phase 5!

@billyjoebowers @CultureDesk She-Hulk was one of the best damn things they ever did imo

@DrOtto @billyjoebowers Tatiana Maslany is so great! She's said in interviews that the show is unlikely to come back, but we're hoping the character will pop up in a movie at some point!
