Current reading is this anthology of Jimi Hendrix writings, interviews, letters, and lyrics, presented chronologically in lieu of an autobiography, and largely it's working so far, about 40% in. Jimi comes across as the all-round good egg you'd expect, and his rise seems to define overnight success - from band formation to the Monterey Festival in under 9 months. He was also clearly someone who took popular music seriously, both his contemporaries and his predecessors, and his insights on other acts are frequently insightful. 📖 @bookstodon

Genrikh Sapgir (1928–1999)

I know you by heart, and yet —
I don't know you — discovering anew every time
hair — by my lips, lips — by my tongue —
and moving within you, I learn your pupils
contracting in an unfamiliar way...
every fibre of me wants to know every fibre of you
is it as joyous and thankful for you as it is for me
becoming you and collapsing —
that's what the Bible meant: he knew her!

Just finished reading ‘Babel, or the Necessity of Violence’ by R.F. Kuang. Words can’t express how much I loved this book. The best story I’ve read in a very long time 10/10 @bookstodon

I've had such an influx of long-awaited sequel pre-orders arriving plus library holds coming through, and then a friend lent me yet more books!

I love having so many reading options that I need to use the notes app to keep track of my queue. 🥰

Excellent piece isolating a poignant TZ trope. The good ol’ days aren’t necessarily so.

Read SO LET THEM BURN by Kamilah Cole if you love ancestral magic, the bond between sisters, the story that happens after the war is over, young people stepping up to save the world, dragons, libraries, magic schools, anti-colonial frameworks, intense crushes, the grey areas & dancing all night.

These Maps Reveal the Hidden Structures of ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Books - If you decide to see more, click on this story. by Sarah Laskow June 13, 2017

"...The last installment of the original “Choose Your Own Adventure” series came out in 1998, but since 2004, Chooseco, founded by one of the series’ original authors, R.A. Montgomery, has been republishing classic volumes, as well as new riffs on the form of interactive fiction that seemed ubiquitous in the 1980s and ’90s. The new editions also carry an additional feature—maps of the hidden structure of each book..."

Because any novel with a woman's name on the cover must be about a pretty bouquet of flowers, not about vomiting from arsenic poisoning.

Kto zna książki Marty Kisiel ten wie, czego mniej więcej się spodziewać - dużo humoru, plastycznego języka, "wybuchowych" stylistycznie zdań i... osadzenie kryminału nieco w tyle. Taki urok komedii kryminalnych - ta jest bardzo dobra i zabawna, choć nie ustrzegła się wad.

Emma, by Jane Austen.
You are but one and twenty, a gentleman’s daughter, but fixed on never marrying so that you may care for your hypochondriac father; this, however, does not dissuade you from the disastrous matchmaking you attempt for others, which goes wildly awry, embroiling yourself even, though you are always sensible to the distinction of rank.
