Yes, I take it personally when you say you won't vote, or vote for the Dem. Why? Because among other things, the fascists tried to commit a Black GENOCIDE during the pandemic. Your actions or inaction will give them the power to do it again in some other way. My survival depends on them NOT gaining power. So does yours.

My thoughts to Billie Eilish...
I want a ceasefire too, but one with the hostages home and safety for our people assured. I know you're not antisemetic but I expected better of you. I thought you would've known the origins of a symbol you wear are the bloody hands of those who murdered innocent Jews who entered a Palestinian territory by a literal mistake and had been lynched for it. The red bloody hand symbol is not a sign of caring for Palestinians, it's a symbol of celebration of slaughter

@specked@social.right.wtf avatar

@skaly "Two Israelis, Yosef Avrahami and Vadim Norzhich, had made a very wrong turn, and would never turn back. They were swallowed by a lynch mob whole, who beat them, stabbed them, gouged their eyes out, and disemboweled them as they lay on the floor of the Ramallah police station.

And when one of the Israeli men’s phones rang and rang and rang – his wife, worried that she hadn’t heard from him – his killer picked up the phone and said “your husband is dead.”

The words were enough to make me sick – just as I’m sure they’re making you sick, too.

But it was the photograph that ran alongside the text that left me screaming, screaming, screaming out of my mind, a keening wail from across ten time-zones, as I stared at the picture of one of the men who did this to them, who squeezed their lives from their bodies with such brutal inhumanity, and who then stood by the open window and waved to the cheering crowd below.

His hands, like two bloody flags waving from the window, his hands like something from the darkest recesses of the mind that drags us to that place where humanity shambles off to die. His hands, those two hands with five fingers each, just like mine, just like yours, covered in the blood of another man… a Jew. A Jew like me."

@negative12dollarbill @skaly while you're at it, go fuck yourself. The pin was made by a Palestinian. They knew what they were doing. You give the benefit of the doubt to terrorists and scrutinize the only Democratic state in the region that additionally shares western values. You're clearly not stupid from your bio.

@lilithsaintcrow Ah, I see we're taking a nostalgic trip back to the good old days when everything ran on horse and buggy, and the pinnacle of communication was scribbling letters on parchment with quills. I suppose next you'll be lamenting the loss of black and white television and the sheer joy of winding up a cassette tape. Let's just ignore the wonders of AI and LLM technology, shall we? After all, who needs progress when you can stick to your trusty landline phones and fossil fuel-powered contraptions? Oh, the irony of longing for the past while typing away on your high-tech device. How quaint.

@cohomologyisFUN @petealexharris @makkhorn This list is not exhaustive, including Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, André Carson, Summer L. Lee, and Delia C. Ramirez. I stand for America and Democracy, calling out politicians regardless of their affiliation. While you embrace nonsense by turning a blind eye to the flaws within your own team and fixating on the shortcomings of the right, I aim for fairness. My original post compared the far left to the entire right, but you chose to overlook that and instead conflate the issue to encompass the entire left.

How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers: interesting analysis by Abraham Wyner, a Professor of Statistics and Data Science at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Even if we believed Hamas’s claims about total deaths and number of their fighters killed, the rest of their numbers would mean civilian women are killed over 3x more than civilian men. Statistically, that makes no sense and is very powerful evidence that Hamas is making up numbers.

@Teri_Kanefield @StephanieJones It's just more evidence that the majority of our citizenry get the entirety of their information from talking heads and perform no research into the sources themselves. I'm no lawyer but it seems pretty clear to me that Section 5 of the 14th Amendment specifically grants Congress the power to enforce the amendment through appropriate legislation. It states: "The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article."

    @Wileymiller @GottaLaff I hate Trump and Republicans as much as any sane person, but why do you think it shouldn't be up to Congress to disqualify a presidential candidate?

    specked,
    @specked@social.right.wtf avatar

    @GottaLaff @Wileymiller I don't think it's appropriate to allow states to decide who is on the Presidential ballot. While it's frustrating that the Supreme Court, Congress, and state legislatures suck, in a democracy, we ultimately get the leaders we deserve.

    specked,
    @specked@social.right.wtf avatar

    @GottaLaff @Wileymiller Consider the 40-50% of people who don't vote. While I voted for Hillary and appreciate her lifetime service to our country, our system isn't determined by the popular vote, nor does it cater to the majority who don't read books. Perhaps it ought to, but achieving such reforms requires civic engagement. As long as the populace prioritizes cake and circus over active civic participation, those with the most resources and vested interests will continue to hold sway.

    specked,
    @specked@social.right.wtf avatar

    @GottaLaff @Wileymiller You already know that in the US, the president isn't directly elected by the popular vote but through the Electoral College, where each state's votes decide the outcome. To shift to a popular vote system, a constitutional amendment or a pact among states agreeing to allocate their electors based on the national popular vote would be necessary. This would require significant political will and coordination among states to amend the Constitution or enact such legislation. Those 50% of voters would need to get engaged.

    Someone (follower) just DMd me accusing me of being a 'drag on support' of Dems.

    Why? He said "we're all supporting the democracy coalition", & I explained that many in my replies are angry, not supportive. He accused me of something something Hillary's emails re Biden... not sure what that meant, but it was offensive.

    If anyone ever accuses me of not supporting Biden in this election, they haven't read my TL or listened to me on air.

    Talk about offensive. I blocked.
