Did you know that female Northern Cardinals sing as well as the males? This one would like you to know that!

Chipmunks at my old place - there was one I could pet. This morning I almost got to pet one here. 😊

A chipmunk on its back feet with one hand on the edge of the deck. It’s looking at the photographer who probably has seeds

Got this picture just as it reached capacity

It’s #spring and the #flowers are blooming, which means that #Bees have got a good supply of food. They particularly seem to like the small flowers of the #Cotoneaster plant in the front #garden and throughout a #SunnyDay, there are always several dozen on it.

I had a great lunch companion today, a sleepy wood mouse.

Phone photo, obviously, because I don't carry a real camera when cycling. As an aside, it was great to see so many people of all ages out cycling today.

The collared dove is a small pigeon found on farmland and in woodland, parks and gardens across the country. Since breeding in the UK was first recorded in the 1950s, numbers have increased and the collared dove is now one of our commonest garden birds

Yum

Blue tit loves the blossom and the insects within them

The largest of the UK's tits, the great tit is a bird of woodland, parks and gardens. It nests in holes in trees, but is just as happy to use nestboxes. Great tits are active feeders, hunting out insects and spiders among the smaller branches and leaves of trees in woodlands.

The Eurasian goldfinch is a striking, small finch of gardens, parks, woodland, heathland and farmland. It eats seeds, especially from ragwort, dandelions and teasels, as well as invertebrates. During winter, goldfinches roam about in flocks of up to 100 birds, searching for food. However, some of our UK birds will migrate as far south as Spain to avoid the worst of the harsh weather. The progression, causes and effects of climate change have been measured by everything from multimillion-dollar satellites to the humble thermometer, but increasingly scientists — including a team in Okinawa — are turning to sound. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2024/04/21/wildlife/okinawa-sound-climate-change/
