Crankpork,

No, according to the courts (one court), an emergency in one city does not meet the requirements for the Federal emergencies act, and didn’t take into account the negligence of the multiple layers of regional policing and government who refused to act.

Crankpork,

It’s always the people who weren’t there who continue to push the idea that it was a peaceful protest.

Crankpork,

A city under siege with no police protection is an emergency, full stop.

Crankpork,

I’m sorry, headline, you have to be more specific, there’s so many…

Crankpork,

So as Staples is an American company, does this put Canadians’ personal information under the jurisdiction of the PATRIOT act?

Crankpork,

Since Musk bought Twitter I’ve been more active on Tumblr and as long as you don’t go anywhere that takes itself too seriously, it’s actually refreshing and lovely.

Similarly, when I signed up for Bluesky I decided I’d only follow people I know IRL and artists, and to not be afraid to use the mute or block, and it’s been great. Just a steady stream of art and people discussing art.

I’ve also got Mastodon, Pillowfort, and Cohost accounts I never really use.

Crankpork,

Now now, the cops were doing something: they tried to break up the Ottawa people at Billing’s Bridge who were preventing more trucks from getting downtown.

The cops weren’t sitting on their asses, they were complicit.

Crankpork,

Picked up Another Code Recollection. Never played the original on the 3DS, and I’m really enjoying it.

Crankpork,

Yep! One of the worst burns I’ve ever gotten too. The potato sticks to you like glue and doesn’t come off right away.

Really sucks.

Crankpork,

If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that crime only exists for the poor.

Crankpork,

Lots of companies “accidentally” including artificially generated works in their games/books/ads lately.

They probably pre-write the apologies.

Crankpork,

Season 3 worked because of the ensemble cast, though. The first two where it was “Picard and Friends” felt weird, and not like what anyone really wanted, and if this is another “Just Picard” thing it’s likely to end up the same.

Crankpork,

She doesn’t like Star Wars because it’s too woke, which is why she’s a Trekkie instead. Implying that Star Trek isn’t woke. Which is ridiculous.

Crankpork,

Yeah. Getting out of physical media now, as every streaming service is hitting peak enshittification, is such a wild choice for Best Buy to be making, it has to have been handed to them by people trying to keep people on streaming. Now is the time to be making a killing in physical media.

Crankpork,

Ah, so this is where they’re pivoting after getting away from NFTs.

Crankpork,

Yeah, I’ve been catching up on Doctor Who and the ads at the beginning of episodes were skippable last week, but today they’re not, and the ads they’re talking about in this article don’t even start until the end of January, so it’s likely to just get worse.

I won’t know though, cancelled my account this evening.

Crankpork,

Who enforces them though? The Supreme Court has shown that it doesn’t believe in conflicts of interest or recusing from cases, and all he needs to do is contest the rulings until they land on his desk.

Crankpork,

One of those things that can be kind of rude to imply, and only really works retrospectively.

Crankpork,

I’d been hearing talk of Lemmy as a potential Reddit alternative around the third party app debacle, but nobody seemed to be taking it terribly seriously until I saw the Star Trek subreddits open startrek.website for themselves.

That got me interested. It was the first instance I can remember of one of the bigger communities I followed just up and moving like that, and it made the whole thing feel more real.

Starfield design lead says players are "disconnected" from how games are actually made: "Don't fool yourself into thinking you know why it is the way it is" (www.gamesradar.com)

apparently this is in response to a few threads on Reddit flaming Starfield—in general, it’s been rather interesting to see Bethesda take what i can only describe as a “try to debate Starfield to popularity” approach with the game’s skeptics in the past month or two. not entirely sure it’s a winning strategy,...

Crankpork,

Seriously. At the end of the day it’s the players who decide whether a game is good or fun. They might not understand the nuances of what went into creating a game they don’t find fun, but that doesn’t make them wrong.

Crankpork,

I assume the lobbyists pay for that privilege.

Crankpork,

Old Gods of Asgard live was amazing, and Alan Wake 2 NG+ next Monday, which is huge (for reasons I won’t explain, y’alls will just have to play the game).

I had other things to say but I’m too excited about that, so I’m going to bed.

Crankpork,

We don’t have waste storage for the greenhouse gasses produced by fossil fuel plants either but Nuclear opponents never bring that up.

Crankpork,

Very handy. Sevagoth’s so annoying to farm for.
