Debs,

Amazing. I’m down in Portland and a buddy reported seeing it here as well. Gonna try tonight.

Debs,

Larian is not making Baldur’s Gate 4. Stand down soldier.

Is it worth the solar panels I'm getting? (lemmy.world)

I’m sorry for posting this here. There isn’t a solar panel instance, nor did I see anything for electricians. I know there’s been a lot of gripe with certain solar companies (solgen being in litigation, and others) but I didn’t hear much about freedom forever, since they’re new to Seattle area where I’m doing this....

Debs,

It kinda seems like the end of the Google era. What will we search Google for when the results are all crap? This is the death gasps of the internet I/we grew up with.

Debs,

Last line should be

“And take what’s ours back”

Debs,

Same. I’m looking at everything but Tesla. I just couldn’t live with myself…

Debs,

Thank you for all the hard work and time you put into this community!

Trump’s Truth Social is now a public company. Experts warn its multibillion-dollar valuation defies logic | CNN Business (edition.cnn.com)

Trump Media & Technology Group, the owner of struggling social media platform Truth Social, is began its long-delayed journey as a public company at Tuesday’s opening bell under the ticker symbol “DJT.”...

DNA Tests Are Uncovering the True Prevalence of Incest (www.theatlantic.com)

The geneticist Jim Wilson, at the University of Edinburgh, was shocked by the frequency he found in the U.K. Biobank, an anonymized research database: One in 7,000 people, according to his unpublished analysis, was born to parents who were first-degree relatives—a brother and a sister or a parent and a child. “That’s way,...

Debs,

A bit off topic but, here is the latest episode from the podcast Citations Needed. They talk about the Atlantic’s shitty politics. It made me not want to give them any views.

Weird shower leak. Advise needed. (photofed.world)

We have a standing shower with a strange leak. It was built with a small tiled wall/step that the frame-less glass shower wall panel sits on. I noticed water pooling outside the door after a shower. At first I thought it was the door seal but upon closer inspection it is coming out of the grout. See pics (right where the arrow...

Debs,

Yeah. When I mentioned resealing I meant I’d reseal the water facing portion of the shower with something like this 511 Impregnator Penetrating Sealer. I agree that I don’t want to seal up the water outlet.

Debs,

Thanks. This sounds like an easy first step. I recently re-caulked where the pan meets the tile but not where the tile hits the glass frame. As someone else mentioned in this thread, I wonder if the water is finding a screw hole from the frame.

Debs,

Oh yeah. I found this guy when I was first looking into this problem. This is a super great video. He gave me the idea that maybe I just need to use a grout sealer on the water acing portion of the tile and attempt to seal up where the water is entering.

Debs,

Yes! I was just thinking about this last night. I’m finally playing through the first one and I’m loving it. I’d sure like to slide into the sequel…

Debs,

100% of those people are deplorables

Debs,

Nothing is going to happen. Congress will pass a shitty immigration bill. Abbott will claim a victory for Texas and the whole thing will blow over.

The interesting thing is that Trump is trying to prevent congress from acting because he wants to campaign on the immigration issue. If Biden is able to get something through it will look like a victory.

Can anyone give me advice on how to solve this T1-11 siding rot? (lemmy.zip)

I recently bought my first house and I noticed some rot happening beside our garage door. It appears that when the cement driveway was poured, they got too close to the siding and now water is wicking up into the wood. I figure I can cut back the siding and replace it but how do I stop this from happening again?

Debs,

I was worried about sealing in water/moisture. I think I’m going to leave it until the rainy season is over and then open it up to see what is behind there. Hopefully the structure is ok.

Debs,

If I leave a gap, what is to prevent water from running in behind the siding? The cement is sloped away from the house but there is no overhang so it does get wet.
