Just seeing what this whole Fediverse thing is all about.

I'll just be posting about whatever random stuff interests me at the time.

I started playing Stardew Valley again only this time on the SteamDeck. The controls are going to take some getting used to because they do not feel natural at all. The top rated community layout is one that mimics KB&M but I've never liked using the trackpads for mouse movement.

Oh well, I'll just have to keep working on it until I find something that works. Can't wait to see the Version 1.6 stuff.

I've put 40 hours into Baldur's Gate 3 and I'm giving up on it. I've played turn based games, rpgs, and larian games without problem but BG3 just isn't clicking for me. I just find the game to be boring. There's nothing that draws me in and keeps me playing. I'm starting to think I just don't like popular games. This isn't the first time I've dropped a game that everyone else seems to love.

I ordered a mystery box from Adagio that finally came in and I'm surprised by how good it is. I was expecting a bunch of single cup packets but they actually sent several of their sampler size packs which contains enough leaves for several cups. They even sent a pack of Tie Kuan Yin Black from their master selection.

Dharkstare, to dredge

That could either be really good or really bad. Dredge definitely has a story strong enough for a movie.

I'm attempting to play Baldur's Gate 3 and it's really dense. As someone who's never played D&D, I'm very lost and don't really know what I'm doing. I kinda wish there was a setting where the game would automatically handle my level ups for me because there's just so much stuff I don't know what to pick but I'm pretty sure I'm building the characters wrong.

I'll keep trying at it but I might have to drop the game.

Also, the graphics on SteamDeck are really sketchy.

I've finally played all the modules in Kittens + Beasts.

Kittens - A good addition that add incentive to be first

Beasts - I found this to be kinda meh. I didn't like that you can only get beasts on the first day which makes it really easy to just skip the whole module.

Events - I really enjoyed this module. The events really add additional layers of strategy and time sensitive ways to score points.

I finished playing Dave the Diver and it was an amazing game that definitely went beyond my expectations. It had a very fun game play loop and progressing through the game kept unlocking more stuff to do. I was not expecting three different kinds of farming or seahorse racing.

I wish I would have known about the free Dredge DLC before I finished it but oh well.

I just got the Kittens + Beasts Expansion for Isle of Cats and played the Kitten module. The small size of the kittens and being able to rescue two for one basket makes it easier to fill out those smaller spaces that used to require treasures. It definitely adds incentive to be first for the round.

@boardgames

Dharkstare,

@grayson A quick summary of the Kitten Rules: Four kittens are pulled out of the kitten bag. They have the same shape as the common treasures and it costs 2 fish for one kitten or 5 fish for two kittens. You use a single basket when rescuing kittens regardless if you're rescuing 1 or 2 of them. Only the first player can rescue kittens. Also, kittens count as cats for scoring and Anytime powers.

I just found out that Humble Bundle has a book bundle for Terry Pratchett's Discworld. A 39 book bundle that is redeemed through Kobo.com.

Edit: Only available in the US.

@books

Dharkstare,

@YurkshireLad I hadn't noticed that. I just checked the other book bundles and didn't see any restrictions so I'm guessing it has something to do with this bundle coming through Kobo which would be odd since Kobo is a Canadian company.

Just finished Pikmin 4 and it was a great game. Managed to complete most of it but I'm terrible with the Dandori battles so I'm never going to get platinum in all of those.

Dharkstare, to Nintendo

I finished playing Super Mario Bros Wonder and found it a bit disappointing. It was way too easy. The only spot that was really challenging was the Secret World and even then it wasn't too bad.

Dharkstare,

Just to clarify. It was a fun game but it was over way too soon.

I finally found the black action cube I had lost. It was inside the subwoofer. It apparently bounced off the floor high enough to fall in this little hole on the front of the subwoofer. I had to fish it out with a ruler and a piece of tape.

Dharkstare, (edited ) to boardgames

Just a few weeks after getting the Asia expansion, I dropped one of the black action cubes and now I can't find it. I even pulled all the furniture out and crawled on the floor with a flashlight and still can't find it. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Now it looks like the player using the black cubes is going to have to have one mis-colored cube and that's really going to bother me. I guess I'm going to have to see where I can buy spare parts.

I recently got the Asia expansion for Wingspan and I've been really enjoying the Duet board. It adds a whole new layer of strategy that really makes you have to pay attention to the birds you're playing.

@boardgames

Dharkstare,

@BloodSlut Besides the usual stuff, it adds Duet Mode (for 2 players) and Flock Mode (for 6-7 players). The Duet Mode adds a duet board that you add pieces to every time you play a bird. The goals from the expansion are all related to the duet board. The placement rules for the duet board really forces you to pay attention to the birds you play.

I've played a few hours of High On Life and the best description of it is "Rick and Morty The Game". The first talking gun you get is Justin Roiland doing the Morty voice. I can only assume the reason they didn't make it an actual R&M game is due to copyright issues or something.

Dharkstare, to Spotify

Spotify crashes right after it plays an ad. They're really stepping up their game in trying to pressure people into switching to premium.

I just started playing Cult of the Lamb and I'm really enjoying it. It kind of reminds me of Moonlighter. On a related note, the Steam Deck is working really well and I haven't had any trouble running games on it. It looks like Linux Gaming has come along really well.

Dharkstare, to random

I love Standard Time. Daylight in the morning and night in the evening just feels right.

Dharkstare, to tea

For the longest time, Earl Grey tea from places other than Twinnings just didn't taste right. I just recently brewed a cup using lower temperature water and it tastes great. I guess just boiled water was too hot for it. If I had realized how much of an effect water temperature would have on the taste, I would have got a kettle where you can set the temperature.

Dharkstare, to tea

Every time I drive past a coffee shop, I see these ridiculously overdone drinks like Creme Brulee Lattes and Pumpkin Pie Mochasippis but the only thing for tea drinkers is the same old choice between Earl Grey and Chai. Where are all the outrageous teas that blur the line between drink and dessert? I'd like an incredibly unhealthy seasonal tea every now and then too.

Dharkstare, to gaming

After getting crushed twice in a row in Rimworld, I'm now watching Ic0n's tutorial series on the game. Hopefully I'll figure out just what I'm doing wrong so my next set of pawns might actually survive.
