I've really enjoyed working on new features for @moshidon lately, so here's another one. Polls now animate to show their options when you click "Show Results".
Way too much time was spent just watching and enjoying the animation.

#Moshidon #MastodonApp

A screencast of a poll in Moshidon. When clicking the "Show Results" button below the poll, the different options animate to show their votes.

@angiebaby Are you sure that you're using Megalodon? Megalodon does not have the code for the sheets and your post info indicates that it was sent from Moshidon.

Very excited about the future of Mastodon with synchronised timelines (a highly requested feature in @moshidon) and grouped notifications (another highly requested feature).

A little teaser of what I've been working on for .

equations are now displayed correctly. Perfect if you like reading proofs on instances like https://mathstodon.xyz/

It's not quite done yet, so it will take x (x ∈0, ∞)) seconds to show up.

I'm planning to release a new version of (https://github.com/FineFindus/Hieroglyphic) next week. If you speak several languages and like to contribute to FOSS, this is a great opportunity.
The changes from the previous version are very minor, with a total of 20 strings.

Thanks to everyone who has translated the app so far.

I'm pretty sure I just wrote some terrible Java code today, by using Atomics as references instead of properly modifying the callback function.

I think I'm unconsciously trying to use Rust features

Are you experienced with GTK and Rust ? :gnome: ❤️ :rust:

We are looking to contract someone to work on the new GNOME Password Manager 🔑

We want it to become a core/default app and help secure millions of users.

You'll be working with the GNOME Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to building emancipatory technologies for everyone.

Please send resume / portfolio to stf@gnome.org

    Boosts welcome :boost_love:

@sonny I would love to apply, but I don't think I have the time :(
(Nor would my imposter syndrome allow it :))
Happy to see more Rust adoption though

The thing that best symbolizes 's fearless concurrency to me is just adding .into_par_iter(), and suddenly my code is multithreaded, and the execution time goes from 35m down to just 5m.

@moshidon @wtwagg Are the notifications visible when you open the app? It's possible that the app crashes when it receives a notification, I remember seeing some fixes for megalodon, but I'm not sure of we have them already.
Does the crash log in the settings change, after you should have received a notification?

I'm happy to announce the first release of Hieroglyphic, a forked and updated version of TeX-Match, which helps to find LaTeX symbols by drawing them. It's available for download on Flathub (https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.finefindus.Hieroglyphic).

    FineFindus,
    @FineFindus@floss.social avatar

@sonny Thanks for the kind words.

I haven't delved much into the library that powers the recognition, but it should be possible to adapted it to other symbols. Alternative, there are also similar libraries for normal handwriting.

How good the results are, depends on how good the dataset is.

You may have seen it teased by @tbernard already, I recently updated an old GTK 3 app to a more modern design using GTK 4 and libadwaita. It's now ready for its first release (probably sometime next week), so if you're bilingual, translations would be very welcome. It shouldn't take long, it's only 12 strings.

Translations are currently done using .po files (not a system like weblate yet), see https://github.com/FineFindus/Hieroglyphic?tab=readme-ov-file#translation for more information.

@tbernard Thanks for the great design!
I think it needs a new name (and possibly a new icon) to not confuse it with the original app, and it should be good for a first release.
    Happy to take suggestions :)

Today I learned by accident that has an autoStash option that automatically stashes, rebases, and reapplies the stash.
Such a time saver when rebasing a work-in-progress branch.

Spent the last three hours debugging a problem where the paths "/home/user/file.iso/" and "/home/user/file.iso/" were not equal. It turned out that one of them was from a C API and still had the '\0' byte and the end. Best of all, path.display() does not even display the byte, only debug display does.

@Artilaina @thomasfuchs That's because Mastodon doesn't support them yet. I think it displays correctly on servers that support it, though I may be mistaken. Apparently it's on the roadmap (https://joinmastodon.org/roadmap item MAS-48), so this may be resolved properly in the future.

    FineFindus,
    @FineFindus@floss.social avatar

@juliobiason No, they serve different purposes (symbolic is for smaller icons with less detail).
Also, I have no control over the data/API surface, so I wouldn't be able to remove it anyway :)
Just found the idea to create a secondary struct pretty funny.
