Hi all, I’m currently the only mod here and I’ve sadly had to be less active given sizable real life responsibilities. So posting here to see if anyone is up for assisting in mod management? The community is on the smaller side right now so it’s not a TON of stuff, but it’s pretty much just making sure posts are within the right guidelines and curbing spam. This also allows for verifying others as mods if and when more arrive to this post assuming theyre up for it. There’s more to it with a larger group but right now there’s not that much.

So I'm thinking this PICO-8 community could use a list of resources. I'm pretty sure I've seen an "awesome" list as well as a list of links on (ahem) another link aggregator site... If no one else compiles one, I may end up doing it.

There’s a lot of great resources and game recommendations that often slip beneath the cracks with Pico 8, so I’d say that’s a great idea.

I'm still waiting on a data request export, and also check in to rerun a backup + PowerDelete whenever a sub opens up, just so that's cleared on my way out. But besides that Im way note active here than I ever was on reddit especially sure some of the niche communities have an existing presence.

Was just about to make a community here but guess I don't have to lol.

Pico 8 is basically a "fantasy console", definition is tough to define but its basically its own micro console but not tied to any physical hardware, tho people have made those with raspberry pi's

As for recommendations, this video by Superclass gives good examples Here

But a few I can give is

  • Celeste Classic
  • Birds with Guns
  • Dank Tomb
  • Poom, a Doom demake
  • the Cat Doctor, a small puzzle game (note that this is a commercial game so gotta pay for that)
  • Alfonzo's Bowling challenge

Among many others. All the free ones are browsable in the BBS as well as using Splore in the program itself.

I'm intending to stay, barring poking in and seein if there's any extra niche communities that could fit at home here (there's a good few cat ones), I wiped my accounts and am currently waiting on a data request export. Once I can get that then I'm wiping my accounts and not turning back.

Sorta, Got a bunch of the more niche communities I was in made, with only two exceptions. I believe in being the change I want made, but I"m hardly experienced as a moderator so it's a new adjustment. They're also existing communities so some mods usually have issues with that, though I'm always open to give mod status when relevant.

I got a wayback page that showed the original sub to see some of the stuff on the sides, that included sub's like turtlecats and purrito. Not sure if I'll have time tomorrow but after that I could see if I can get some of those going if anyone's up for that.

I think the hard cutoff for GoldenAgeMinecraft was 1.2.5 but the rest is basically that yeah. SilverAgeMinecraft uses anything prior to the combat update, but this is generally one of those that's always up in the air regarding discussion.

Haven’t fully left yet, just waiting for data request exports to come in then I’m out since I already got the communities I’m in setup and wiped my posts, but pretty much what you’d expect.

I used Infinity as opposed to Apollo but same idea applies, I only ever used that or old.reddit, never the new site, so those going away was already a deal breaker for me, but their recent actions beyond that just further motivated me to go full speed ahead on this.

I’m still lurking in case of any interesting communities that could go here, I spotted about 5 different cat sub’s I can list for that, and I’m still waiting on my data to get sent over, but after that then I’m gone for good.
