Reminds me a little of that Top Gear episode of when they were driving through the deep south… Shots will be fired…

Is Texas talking about leaving really all that new?

Several years back I went to Woodlands TX for a business trip. There was a historical map of Texas on the wall of the CEO’s office I was visiting. As I was asking questions about the oil rigs depicted, it was mentioned everytime the price of gas goes up, the separation of Texas talk goes up along with it.

Thankfully last year when I was down there the price of fuel was 2.87/G when it was 5.83/G in California.

However it seems they have found a new way to rile the population up now.

No I think they should have to go back to where they came from like Europe. That’s how they thinks it works when they yell that at born and breed Texans of non white backgrounds.

I sure hope not!

I get the angle you mean here. If they got at least one vaccine why not more?

They missed using Access incorrectly with too many users and too large of a database.

And the scary thing is many of these flat earthers moved on to the Q world. It was like a gateway entrance to Qanon. Once you’re going down the slippery slope territory…

Canadian too, well at least British Columbia. There was a big drive a few years back to modernize the meters and some of what I suspect are the types that became 5G kills you groups fought long and hard to block these new meters being swapped in.

Something about radio waves and then not being accurate. I don’t think these people in this group were trying to steal hydro but more on some health grounds kick to block these new devices from being deployed. I think individual home owners can refuse the new meters much like people can refuse spraying on their road side properties.

In the end as a business person I suspect they served a few purposes for real time accuracy of data collection on the status of demand and the health of the grid, and eliminating the need to send out meter readers to manually read a odometer on a old style mechanical meter.

Unlike others I don’t think they were in the Bill Gates lane of trying to microchip you with vaccines to control you and identify a person as well as your cellphone does.

This seems to fall into the no good deed shall go unpunished…

I would agree but I have seen in some areas of the US you must be connected to the grid. There is no disconnecting from it as it’s illegal.

Some say this exists to block solar but I think these rules predate solar and are more about the health and safety issues as a home without electricity generally requires a lot more work to upkeep with a lack of hot water and lighting, not to mention cooking.

As much as many of us like camping, having a camp fire in your front yard to cook from and boil water with daily might ruin the aesthetics of the neighborhood.

I recall some pretty bold statements being made that Apple couldn’t stop this reverse engineering from working ever in the early days of tech reporting on this.

Even as a Android user I thought this was pretty bold claims to make as this whole walled garden is a big part of the Apple brand and they will need to protect this as they really don’t have leading software inovation and they are no longer ahead on tech advances or specs that made the first couple of iPhones ground breaking.

Since they are a couple to a few years behind the Android features and specs, they need to protect the special brand identity above all else so I expected them to tweak things to break anything they don’t want to have happen to their systems.

I can’t blame them at all from a business prospective. While I don’t like or enjoy their products, they had built a great brand that sells itself for those that “want to be different” but actually the same as all of their friends.

I recall the early days of PC chat services like ICQ, MSN, AOL and the clients like Pigeon and Trillian to try to have them all in one place. It didn’t always seem to work the best for long.

It’s too bad BBM took way too long to open up to others beyond BB devices. They had some of my favorite emojis and they had for a time a big user base that they could have kept in their services.

That’s pretty cool.

It’s been awhile since I last used a iPhone 13 Pro Max for work but I do recall the constant announcements there with previous models when Apple would announce yet another great “new” feature for iPhone that Android users already had for a year or two at that stage.

Samsung also made some good media campaigns on the announcements and used the lineups for new iPhones fairly well in their advertising.

I will say I thought the iPhone 13 camera was pretty goof, the battery life was too, and within the Apple walled garden the texting of videos was nice. The overall user experience for me wasn’t a good fit. I like to browse the web without ads and watch videos without them too. Some of that can be done with a iPhone but it’s clunky and the web browsers are just safari.

There’s other customizable options I prefer that I can do with Android that isn’t an option yet for Apple but I do know they will be able to at some stage.

Overall the whole apple vs android has been great for consumers. If it wasn’t for the competition between Apple and the Android products neither group would be as far along.

Reminds me of Quebec. They wanted to separate from Canada but wanted to still use Canadian money and still have access to national Canadian programs.

It’s not a pick and choose situation as much as you like it. You’re either in the country and a part of it, or you’re not.

Well that’s one way get your daily allotment of between 10,000 and 20,000 specialized erotogenic nerve endings of several types for those that had their’s lobbed off.

My new favourite is people talking on the phone while letting off absolute bomb in public washroom stalls, some even on speaker phone.

My second are those that come in playing their music on phone speaker for all of us to hear their jams.

Not sure if this is better than those that do it on a nature trails but all groups should be forced to have music speaker phone battles while bears and wolves eat them all…

I’m reminded of this. I still think the Maga culture are a bunch of ignorant turds but it does fit the narrative.

I feel like an outsider on these debates. I totally agree we should be able to own forever.

In my case I find there is so much new TV and movies I rarely go back to re-watch shows or movies so owning them isn’t on my radar. It’s a challenge just to watch a whole series I find.

I’m wondering how often do people beyond kids re-watch movies and TV shows? Kids seem to be able to rewatch the same movies several times a day…

WHO chief warns against misinformation over global pandemic accord (news.un.org)

The head of the UN World Health Organization on Thursday spoke out forcefully against “misinformation on social media and in the mainstream media” which has falsely alleged that a new global pandemic accord being negotiated, would allow the WHO to override national sovereignty relating to a future outbreak.
