morhp,

Security is there to make sure you’re not carrying illegal stuff, as long as that’s fine, the only time they maybe check the id is before giving you the boarding pass.

Looks like the guy didn’t have a boarding pass altogether, so not sure how he got into the plane.

There is usually a person or an automatic gate that checks your pass before allowing you through the plane. However that’s more like a ticket check and to make sure people don’t get on the wrong planes, it’s probably not super hard to get around.

morhp,

Yes, potato chips are completely fine in that situation. I don’t know why people say they have too much salt. Sure, they have a lot, but when you have a cold, you’re supposed to drink a lot of water, so that balances out. You can lose a lot of salt due to sweating (especially if you have a fever) and peeing. And salt is a very important electrolyte. And the fat and starch gives you calories.

morhp,

Why would a bot unfollow because someone is coming out as lesbian?

morhp,

The post itself implies causation. Also why would a bot unfollow at all?

morhp,

I think you would be fine for a long time if you drank old-style beer. Unfiltered, low alcohol content, some remaining sugar/starch and with lots of yeast, maybe some impurities that probably contain amino acids, vitamin b12 and other important stuff.

Made the switch to KDE

I’ve been using Fedora for a couple of months now, and have been loving it. Very soon after I jumped into this community (among other Linux communities) and started laughing at all the people saying “KDE rules, GNOME drools,” and “GNOME is better, KDE is for babies.” But then I thought, “Why not give KDE a try? The...

morhp,

Gnome is great because of the large UI size. Like my 14" notebook has a roughly 2800x1600 screen resolution and it’s still pretty usable without any UI scaling. If the bars are an inch tall, you’re either using a huge TV or a screen from the garbage dump. Gnome really needs a modern system.

Suggestions for Merino Wool Tshirts?

My old Merino wool shirts both have a hole now. They were the cheapest Amazon ones I found and sold even cheaper because the label was wrong. I want to buy new ones, but I need suggestions before buying a shirt for 70€ on the internet. I want a loose fit and black colour. Any suggestions for high-quality shirts? I’m in...

morhp,

I have bought some good quality merino stuff from danishendurance.com

Also in Germany

morhp,

Java only has instanceof and getClass, not typeof.

morhp,

I mean, they seem to have basic grammar for items and people and actions (“eyes”, “walls”, “fell”), it’s possible that they only use that weird allegory reference pattern when speaking formally to strangers or whatever. It’s also possible that their language in the original version makes more sense and is more practical and it just gets mangled by the universal translator.

morhp,

Are these under “Contacts” or “last messages”? If they’re under contacts, you likely have some other app that provides these dubious contacts. Might also want to check your contacts app if it contains dubious entries.

morhp,

I believe I read that it helps with lung development when the fetus is swimming in the water in the womb or something like that. But otherwise not really useful.

morhp,

The “q. s.” remains a mystery though.

q.s. means quantum satis and is Latin for “as much as necessary”. Which means they add enough for the right consistency or flavour or whatever, but the exact amount isn’t given and might vary.

morhp,

The article says that, but it’s from Bild, one of the worst German news sites/papers. Can’t really trust it. They’re constantly lying or pushing their own POV or create drama for no reason.

morhp,

Celeste.

To a lesser extent, I liked Hitman 3, Factorio and Plate Up! (fun to play on the TV locally with friends)

morhp,

I just wish there was a sequel or expansion or so. It’s just too short and there isn’t much replay value.

morhp,

Still sounds implausible and far fetched. Why would you be outside without adequate clothing? (Also below zero can be fine in jeans and sweatshirt if the sun is shining and there isn’t much wind). And in that case it would be more a heat issue and less like a shelter issue.

The other case also sounds more like a heat/water issue and less like a shelter issue.

morhp,

Also parts of the existing tech tree, just to be clear.

morhp,

The characters probably shouldn’t know the exact stats, but I mean, some things are reasonably obvious. For example if the barbarian pc turned an enemy into mush with a single hit in the last battle, the character can assume that they’re very strong. And so on.

morhp,

morhp,

0°C is completely fine with jeans and a thick jacket, especially when it’s sunny and there isn’t much wind. It’s cold, but there’s probably not much ice or snow, if anything, probably mostly slush.

Compared to say -20 C where you should have a good ski jacket and ski pants, warm shoes and socks, generally multiple layers everywhere, winter gloves and so on.

morhp,

Some are, the intellij java community edition is even open source. The paid ones are not too expensive, I pay around 200€ yearly for the all products pack and that’s definitely worth it for a professional developer. If you are a student or open source developer, you can apply for free versions also.

morhp,

In Skyrim you’re literally on foot and the world slowly expands around you and you become interested in it.

Yeah, and exploration wisey I prefer Oblivion even more. Skyrim feels smaller and less varied, and horses and other fast-travel options are cheaper and easier available.

morhp,

Blue light gets scattered more by the atmosphere. So less blue light is received directly in a straight line from the sun and more is reflected from other parts of the sky. That’s also why the sky looks blue in the day and why the evening sky looks red (if the sun is very low during the evening, the blue light can’t reach you because it scattered so much due to the very long shallow way through the atmosphere)

morhp,

I had fun for about the first two worlds. After that the puzzles became to grindy and frustrating and I didn’t have much fun with the puzzles with the recorders and the exploding enemies in particular. Also as someone who fears heights, the last section was pretty much unplayable.
