Youtube Rant from a paying customer

I used to use NewPipe back in the days of yore. Then I got Youtube Premium since it bundled in Youtube Music as well which I used. But the former’s app on mobile is a shit show. Even after paying, you are asked to tip random creators, purchase merchandise[ which are shown as actual ads below videos] and join channels to access...

stoy,

The algorithm issue is why I allways curate my youtube watch history, if I don’t, my recommendations would quickly be messed up after watching videos outside of my normal interests.

stoy,

Ok, so the only thing this article says is that it is possible for an EV manufacturer to build an EV factory in Europe?

stoy,

They could have made a more caring ad…

An old guitarr being played and recorded, the microphone is connected to a bright white cable going off screen.

An old camera lens mounted on a new camera body taking pictures of different subjects, a bright white cable is connected to the camera and goes off screen.

A few old tubes of paint are squeezed out onto a class painter’s palette, a bright white cable goes from the palette off screen.

An old arcade cabinett being played and enjoyed, the camera zooms out through the arcade and a bright white cable from the cabinett goes offscreen.

An old typewriter being typed on, with a bright white cable going from it offscreen.

An old cash register in an old general store, bright white cable goes from the register off screen.

An old film projector playing in an old cinema, bright white cable goes from the projector off screen.

A DJ playing an analog turntable, bright white cable goes from the turntable off screen.

A nurse in a retirenment home reads a binder of medical data, bright white cable from the binder goes off screen

It keeps going like that, and at the end you see all the white cables connected to a hydraulic press that starts opening, revealing the iPad Pro, showing scenes from every clip we saw before.

stoy,

I am an IT technician and have been for the last decade and a half, I have no real desire to switch fields, though I would not decline a fat creative consultant check from Apple if they use my idea…

stoy,

Neither of these are physical entities, making the question pointless

stoy,

No, the only time software actually becomes physical is if you print the source code:

stoy,

The difference is that they are stored magneticly/electronicly on a drive, that means that it is just a change of property of a physical material that change, not any addition of material as ink or toner

stoy, (edited )

Well, isn’t it a point of philisophy to nitpick and explore conceptual differences?

stoy,

Hey!

German is not the only language to use compound words!

Swedish is another good example of a language with compound words.

The best compound word I can come up with is “Uppfinnarmissöde”

Uppfinnar - Inventor

missöde - misadventure or mishap

So “uppfinnarmissöde” would translate to either “inventor mishap” or “inventor misadventure”, I prefer the latter as it kinda rhymes when you say it.

stoy,

Is is arm, and they charge a leg for it

What is something you can’t live without, technology wise that saves you time?

I have to say it’s my virtual assistant I’ve made. It saves me a lot of time with making reminders and such alarms for meetings or interviews, music etc.

@asklemmy

stoy,

Water infrastructure.

Be it indoor plumbing or a flushable toilet or a water treatment plant, without water infrastructure modern civilization would be impossible.

I hope they follow tradition and call it the Super Switch

stoy,

I enjoy photography as a hobby, and uploaded my photos to my deviantArt gallery up untill about a year ago, I had just got my new camera and uploaded some photos to my gallery when I got damn pissed off, it suddenly hit me how damn slow it was, add to that how they have removed features and just made the site worse over time.

And with my new camera and larger photos it was just the last straw.

I just wanted to ho back to the mid 2000s internet with simpler web design not wasting my time with countless scripts and tracking crap.

I just wanted a simple but good looking index page linking to galleries of my photos.

So I kicked my HTML/CSS skills into high gear, put w3schools in my browser and started coding, it took a few weeks as I was learning as I went, but i got a nice looking index page with some CSS fun stuff, then I started generating photo galleries with digiKam and uploaded it all to an old school web hotel.

And I got what I wanted, it is basically instantanious loading pages and content, the galleries I use work excellent with arrow keys and you can even swipe back and forth if you are on mobile.

The index page looks fantastic on desktop, but is a jumbled mess on mobile, I don’t care, it is my page and I am happy with it.

It is a semi private page, I don’t advertise it, but I have it on my CV to show my hobby.

stoy,

I am currently researching if being alone 90% of the time has any impact on the prospects of finding a partner.

After 37,5 years of constant research I have found a quite negative link between being alone and finding a partner

stoy,

I blocked Hexbear after being insulted and called names that are far removed from my points of view, this was in a response to comments I made in a thread that might have been on Hexbear.

They looked at my instance which they claimed has had issues with trolls registering accounts there and decided I was a troll because I didn’t fully agree with them, and then the insults started.

We clearly have different political viewpoints and personalities, my experience with Hexbear users is that they are very left, and very confrontational, I am more center/left, and much less confrontational.

That entire question was just pure rage bait from the start, without even resulting in any useful data

To whoever asked the question in the first place, I congratulate you for comming up with the perfect rage bait question.

stoy,

You are taking the bait, this question was never about the actual answers, but rather the male response to being told that we men pose a risk to women, this question was just asked to generate responses from men, proving their point that men are angry and dangerous.

stoy,

Typoman, typoman does whatever a typoman does, especially on mobile while on a bus

stoy,

I get what you mean, but mostly disagree, the options given as the answer is too broad.

I mean, if the man was in the forest to pick berries, and focusing on that and the bear was a female bear with cubs, the situation is completely different from a man wearing a mask and sunglasses staring at the woman and a black bear crossing the path to go and sleep.

The question is too generic to draw any usable conclusions from.

The best response to seeing the answers would have been for men to just ignore it, or say that they are sad to learn the results but that the question is mostly meningless

stoy,

This is still a purely theoretical choise, and since they won’t face any immediate consequences from their response, they might as well use the question for their own shock factor to try and make a point.

I wonder if all women who actually had to choose between getting into a forrest alone with a bear nearby or get into a different forrest alone with a man nearby would actually pick the bear.

But I hope that no one ever has to make this choice.

stoy,

Music from the past has been filtered through many people, and a concensus has developed on what is good music and what is not.

This means that we simply don’t hear the names of bands producing the crap of the day, and are just focusing on the top 20-75% of music from an era.

stoy,

I was born in 1987, sooooo, 36.5 years and counting…

I wasn’t mature enough to be interested in finding a girlfriend in school, when I started being interested I got fat and balding.

Then it has now gone so long that I am worried about how an inexperienced virgin would be seen by women in their 30s/40s.

I have a good job, limited debt, own my apartment and my car, have decent finances, have lived alone for ten years so can take care of chores, pay bills, I am a decent cook (if lazy), I enjoy photography and simple adventures.

I am a bit insecure of my weight, but am trying to work on it when I can, I go swimming 3 times a week during periods when I can do that.

The main issue is that I don’t know where to start finding someone.

stoy,

That is a very good point, I have thought about it and mostly embraced the idea of never experiencing sex, and it sure is relaxing to just not worry about it.

On the other hand, I am quite lonely, I have few friends, and sometimes it is tough to deal with shit on my own.

Dealing with mycoplasma and pneumonia at the same time for one and a half months mostly on my own was not fun, even had to go to the hospital for that, and stayed two nights before starting to get better.

Sex for me would be interesting, I like learning how things work and with a partner who would be patient with me I think it would be quite enjoyable.

I know sex is a very important part of a relationship for many people, and I am mostly worried that I would be too disappointing in that area.

What I mainly am looking for in a relationship is companionship, I am getting tired of allways being alone, though I will concede that being single and living alone makes planning a breeze for the most part.
