stevexley,

That's only with the artist's agreement though isn't it? Usually because you're paying them. In this case the artist isn't a person so can't grant you the copyright (I think)

stevexley,

Perhaps Elon is an alien send to sabotage our ability to spot the fleet until its too late. It would explain why he doesn't act like a human. ;-)

stevexley,

Because I work in government I have to declare any gift with a value over $50. I also have no power over anything without 5 levels of oversight and this guy is chins deep in bribes and can overrule decades of precedent that affect millions. FFS.

stevexley,

They've not been bludgeoned by the Murdoch press for decades telling them that business needs trump everything else. We couldn't possibly increase taxes to pay for increased costs, it has to come from cuts.

stevexley,

Star Citizen, I'd be lucky to surive a day without glitching into space and dying

What are the strategic considerations behind the active spread of anti-vax theories?

When it comes to spreading disinformation about climate change or the risks of smoking, I can clearly see how it protects economic interests (e.g. the value of the assets of the fossil fuel industry or the tobacco industry). I therefore understand that these lies are (have been) regularly pushed by people who do not necessarily...

stevexley,

The only potential opposition to unfettered capitalism is government regulation. If you can make people fell the the government is trying to harm you you are more likely to vote for 'small government' with less oversight of business

stevexley,

“ what you gonna do, buy an iphone?” Google.

Pride Month wrapping up, have you seen any company or organisation do anything remotely meaningful?

So, I will make no secret that I'm rolling my eyes at all of that marketing stuff that goes up every year. But I've been thinking, it doesn't have to be so superficial and pointless. Maybe there's some rare exception out there that took the opportunity to say or do something meaningful....

stevexley,

It's easy to bag 'corporate pride' for being insincere ( because a lot of if is) but it's also a sign of general societal acceptance that would provide some reassurance to those who feel surrounded by bigots

stevexley,

My wife swears by dried apricots. Make sure you are in a well ventilated, prefeably unpopulated space as you are going to produce some gas that will make your eyes water.

stevexley,

I think that they are saying that they aren't moving away from us, the redshift is caused by this mass change effect not movement or acceleration.

stevexley,

Channel Crossing on the ZX81. A frogger rip off on a computer so primitive the only graphics were numbers and letters plus some predefined block shapes. Of course in glorious black and white. We still thought it was amazing.

stevexley,

As it would surely create a giant circular 'love bite' at the same time, a successful attempt would resemble gigantic third nipple.

stevexley,

Is this because people who grew up playing Sim City 2000 are now in positions of power?

A company called Atari is releasing a brand-new 2600 cartridge this year (arstechnica.com)

The company that currently owns the Atari name and trademarks has decided to give owners of the old Atari Video Computer System (aka the Atari 2600) something new to do. Mr. Run and Jump is a new Atari-published platformer that is coming to vintage Atari consoles in cartridge form, complete with a box and instruction manual....

stevexley,

I bought one. I just run Ubuntu on it as a htpc. I played with the Atari OS for about an hour. I still think it's a pretty box to run a pc in.

stevexley,

We may be heading for AI mediated search which could either make that kind of filtering easy or redundant. (Note the 'may' for AI sceptics)

Trump allies scared of 'disaster' as angry MAGA crowd descends on Miami courthouse: report (www.rawstory.com)

As former President Donald Trump prepares to be arraigned in federal court in Miami on Tuesday, both MAGA protesters and law enforcement alike are preparing for a huge demonstration. And according to The Daily Beast, police aren't the only ones worried — Trump's own strategists are privately scared t...

stevexley,

Out of 300 million people, a large number are clinically stupid. A small fraction of those is enough for a riot.
