Levsgetso,
Levsgetso,

Yes. And some things I forgot to mention about the tower:

Baldwin’s tower, in Tsarevets, Veliko Turnovo, was restored by model of this tower.

And, apparently, the tower appeared in S5E10 of Game of thrones. source (in bulgarian)

Levsgetso,

The most popular such alternative is Matrix.

Levsgetso,

The site has all current clients so I’d recommend checking it. As for me, I use Element X. It’s not bad, the only annoying thing is that it’s always asking me to turn on chat backup but when I do it encounters an error. But besides this, it’s alright, it does everything I need it to do.

I don’t feel like it’s necessary. The technology community is more than enough for Reddit and everything also related to technology, making a separate comm just for Reddit feels a little excessive. As for blocking, most apps have keyword blocks so people can already view the community without the Reddit-related stuff.

Levsgetso,

Everyone is saying Voyager and Arctic, and rightfully so, they are amazing apps. But I just wanted to say Mlem has also become really great.

The ruined castle of Castelbouc, above the tiny village of the same name and the river Tarn (Lozère, France) (upload.wikimedia.org)

Description: The ruins of a castle on a steep cliff, against the backdrop of a cloudy sky and lush green forests. Up against the cliffside are a few stone houses, overlooking a river and a stony beach on the opposite shore.

Levsgetso,

That’s amazing! I imagine how grand it must have looked when it was still standing.

What makes fishing as a hobby so appealing that people will fish all hours of the day and in nasty weather?

I saw some people fishing the other day in 16 degree Fahrenheit (-9 Celsius) weather at 4:30AM. They were not ice fishing with a little hut, but standing at the base of a bridge with no shelter or campfire. People are at that bridge fishing regularly when it is cold but that was the coldest temp I have seen so far. Why is it so...

Levsgetso,

I haven’t gone fishing in a long time but from my experience it’s really peaceful. As another commenter said, kind of like meditation. Also, catching the fish feels really rewarding.

Most people just love the thrill and some crank it to 11. Once we went fishing with my grandfather and his friends, in a regular small boat. With us was a guy they had met there last year, who had bought a pretty expensive boat just for fishing, not to talk about all the other equipment he had.

It’s a passion for a lot of people.

Levsgetso,

Wait, isn’t it already the norm?

Levsgetso,

Airdrop for everyone being limited to ten minutes

Levsgetso,

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn’t know about that, interesting.

Levsgetso,

Frankly, it’s just way too big, which can make performance bad, makes it a target for attacks and due to the huge user base it’s harder to upgrade. That’s why .world is still on 0.18.5 while most of lemmy is at 0.19.3.

Also, from what I’ve seen the admins can get a bit powertrippy.

Levsgetso,

Let’s not forget the people who were just straight up banned when they expressed their disapproval of banning the pirate communities.

You’re definitely right, a lot of the time this place feels like Reddit lite

Levsgetso,

Congratulations! One of the best lemmy apps out there, so excited it’s finally on the App Store!

Levsgetso,

You’ve made an amazing app, you deserve it ❤️

Lemmy needs better integration/federation. Too much content is hidden. A community on the biggest instance was not visible to me on another large instance.

I did a search from shitjustworks for “reddit die” and did not find lemmy.world/c/watchredditdie so I made sh.itjust.works/c/watchredditdie (unnecessarily). This should really not happen. When someone makes a community there should be a “ping” sent out to notify all other federated instances....

Levsgetso,

Isn’t that intentional though? I don’t believe many instances, especially the small ones, can afford to federate every community. Sure, sometimes it can be a bit annoying but you can always check on lemmyverse.

Levsgetso,

Fair enough

Scam Numbers - Reddit's (and possibly the internet's) largest scam number depository, now on Lemmy! (lemmy.zip)

With almost 40k subscribers on Reddit, r/ScamNumbers is one of the most useful online databases for tracking down scam phone numbers. Some use the information for awareness, while others take advantage by prank calling scammers to waste their time....

Levsgetso,

Saw you recently created an account here. You truly are everywhere lol

Levsgetso,

They really are amazing. Glad to have you with us 😊

Pro-Russian disinformation in Bulgaria achieves its goals, experts say (www.euractiv.com)

The latest Eurobarometer survey showed that Bulgarians are significantly less likely to admit that they have been targeted by fake news than the EU average (Bulgaria – 51%, EU27 – 68%). At the same time, only 44% of Bulgarians doubt information from social media, compared to the average for the EU (60%)....

Levsgetso,

Which requirements exactly? Taking in Austria’s immigrants so their populists can brag that they’ve saved their country?

The requirements have been met a long time ago, and so says the European Commission. I guess Austria is the only enlightened in the whole EU to determine that Bulgaria and Romania are not ready.

Even as a strong believer in a united Europe, I can’t blame people getting eurosceptic, seeing how our supposed allies treat us.

Levsgetso,

Should we be fine with being treated as second class citizens just because Russia is worse? Of course people will react emotionally and not completely logically, many feel that their country has been humiliated and exploited.

The fact that a single country can just blackmail others in this way, to achieve its own goals doesn’t sound like a union to me. And with such cases russophiles begin to appear more and more right.

The EU needs major reforms in that area to make sure no one can abuse it. And blaming people for being fed up, with 12 years being used as scapegoats by various populists, is directing the blame towards the wrong people.

As I previously stated, I’m an avid supporter of the EU and our membership in it, but it can’t go on in this state.

Baba Vida - Vidin, Bulgaria (lemmy.zip)

The construction of the castle began in the 10th century at the place of the Ancient Roman castell Bononia. The building of Baba Vida is tied to a legend, according to which a Danubian Bulgarian king who ruled at Vidin had three daughters: Vida, Kula and Gamza. Prior to his death, he divided his realm among the three. Vida, the...

Levsgetso,

It’s pretty unfortunate. There’s been some attempts at reconstructing some of the castles but let’s say they weren’t ideal.

We could at least look on the bright side that although the castles are mostly in ruin, the legacy and culture of the medieval Bulgarian states still remain.

Nevertheless it definitely could feel like a piece of history is just gone.

Levsgetso,

Oh definitely, I find them very enjoyable to read. Took a short break after the first book, starting A Clash of Kings tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement!
