AngryBear,

Its probably not entirely fair distribution you’re seeing. This starts way back in 1906? A country like China didn’t even have any tech growth till around the year 2000 basically. They don’t even have an open policy of sharing such things. Russia did for the longest time, but it’s limited due to the population distribution (basically 80% lives near the western border) so an enormous amount of ground is never watched let alone “stuff” being reported… let alone that “stuff” getting out to media or the public.

The EU has always had a more open policy regarding UFO’s, especially Belgium shared a lot of footage over the years. But also much of South America openly shared stuff for the longest time. It’s only been the USA that turned into a “joke” but due to the paranoia people get whenever a government starts to deny things they first admitted too, people start to report anything and everything.

AngryBear,

Trans women are trans women. It’s not a one way street.

AngryBear,

Which is indeed super ironic.

AngryBear,

You’ve met a lot of beauty pageant contestants yeh? How many?

AngryBear,

Read the whole thing just for you. I think you need to read the whole thing yourself. But I’ll boil it down for you, it’s 1 psychologist opinion that you could word (leaves that even optional) to differentiate between sex and gender. However also points out, most psychologists, don’t see it that way.

Aka it’s her opinion, great. I disagree. Too bad.

AngryBear,

Men women aren’t a social construct. Society structures around the biological facts of there being men and women or male and female, and what makes them different. Which is something that should be celebrated, not demonized.

AngryBear,

I think In society men and women formed a structure based on strengths and weaknesses. This is neither dominated by men or women, not the way you want to see it. Which is why I made an earlier comment to go to places where men DO dominate society on every level and treat women like 2nd rate humans. If you truly believe we here in the west live in that way as well, we got nothing left to talk about.

AngryBear,

I don’t know what country you live in, but no here in the Netherlands it’s pretty equal. My evidence? I live here.

AngryBear,

Does that matter? I said the west, the west in general is fairly well balanced in terms of rights or equality. Maybe it’s different in Italy specifically but considering trans men can sign up for miss universe contests, apparently it’s not so bad.

AngryBear,

How the f would I go about proving that? You come with an article speaking about a serious outdated law nobody lived by to begin with. Changed decades ago to reflect that fact.

AngryBear,

I know plenty, nobody agrees with such views and in several hearings in the USA it’s been properly handled and answered. No need for me to do that. This isn’t debate club.

AngryBear,

Thats literally impossible. What’s happening here is the mistake often made of confusing genotypes with gender.

AngryBear,

Lemmy right now is too… well not clumsy exactly, but it does feel vague with all these seperate iterations like .world or .ml and they are seperate and require seperate logins etc so that’s not handy at all. People are used to ease of use, this is where (for now) Reddit remains king.

AngryBear,

I can’t login to .ml, that fact is confusing. You say federated and I think I get that, but I think to most people not in the IT world, that’s basically “abracadabra”.

AngryBear,

Considering I just got “permanently suspended” for making a bad joke on WTF, no appeal possible (nobody replies), Lemmy seems more fair. As getting banned for the entire site, so to speak, is really unlikely if not impractical versus Reddit where if one mod doesn’t like you, if left leaning (and they are all left wing fascists basically) you are F’ed.

Reddit is super left wing, Lemmy is too small (now) to compare or make any comparison to which is “worse”, so it can only be better right now.

AngryBear,

Thanks for the heads up, 10 year old account was almost gone, phew!

AngryBear,

Ironically the oil companies back in the 60’s, did an extensive research into what exactly would happen to the climate and ecology etc, if they kept drilling for and using fossil fuel etc. It’s so accurate that even todays models aren’t that good (I find that fact odd), but bottomline, they knew… they knew, but kept on doing it anyway.

AngryBear,

nos.nl/…/2373196-shell-wist-al-in-1968-dat-gebrui…

A Dutch site, but with a bit of translation applied it should be perfectly readable from Dutch to English. Also you are not bombarded with ads unlike the original the guardian link, they link to that article and so it’s available if preferred.

AngryBear,

Im too new to tell if Lemmy is more left or right leaning or somewhere in the middle. But Reddit is extreme left wing, you can’t even make a (bad) joke without getting banned.

AngryBear,

“Gee, the usual suspects, oh I guess I’m racist now”. That was it, just a snarky cynical comment / “joke” relating to a couple of store robbers/thieves.

“Encouraging hate”, or something like that according to the ban.

Way over the top reaction by a mod or admin, keep in mind I got nothing but upvotes on that comment too… somebody really didn’t like that.

AngryBear,

Well as I mentioned somewhere before, I’m still new here, but it’s seems fairly normal to me so far. On Reddit I’ve been temporarily or permanently banned from Subreddits like for the silliest things, when a mod doesn’t like you, there is no point. They will call you names and whatnot, doesn’t matter, appeal process? Doesn’t seem to exist.

Now how this works on Lemmy is still an unknown to me, though I do think Lemmy is too “complex” for the average internet user and so won’t be able to gain a similar “succes” in terms of userbase and ease of use.
