Some reporters visit the field once and act like they know everything about how everyone is voting,

but they ignore the people who are always roaming there and really understand what's happening.

Delimitation needs to be done irrespective of who forms the government.

In a democracy, a single vote of Tamilians can't be equal to 2 votes of Bihari.

This is unfair, undemocratic and cheating with the majority based on economic growth.

It's like Adani & Ambani's vote should be equal to the lacs of other people because they are super rich and haven't produced 100s of kids!

India election question: What does Congress mean by "freedom of personal laws"?

I'm drawing on translated materials here—I don't know what was said in the original Hindi and it seems possible that what's been said is being misrepresented in some way.

From what I am able to see, though, it seems like an odd idea to campaign on—it's hard to see strong arguments for law not applied equally to all. Is there something I'm missing?

About Wire or anyone, there could be 1-2 wrong reports in a while but their business model isn't around misinformation and propaganda.

I am a paid subscriber to almost all of these, the Hindu and Express as well.

@tokyo_0 @haskman Same applies to political choices. People need to finance their candidates themselves and then only expect them to be accountable to them and not corporate (which is the case now).

I do that as well -- put money where my mouth is 😀

@tokyo_0 @haskman You can research about the 'Universal civil code' in the Uttarakhand state. It has all the same exceptions like the past except Muslims. And even they are not opposing it there -- we haven't seen any public opposition.

It's all the hypocrisy of the BJP to gain hardcore Hindu votes.

@tokyo_0 @haskman A very common notion in India is; it doesn't matter whom we vote for, our life is unaffected.

Rise of Modi in 2013-14 changed it a bit and vote percentage grew but again it's down this year. It shows on the ground that at least 5-10 percent of people have lost hope and don't want to vote and skipping it.

@tokyo_0 @haskman In India, the situation looks a bit different. People are very poor and it's a mixed society. On the ground, it looks like people want change. However, there are doubts on the EVM machines and the election commission is clearly playing in their favour.
