Hmm, I find some of the questions and assumptions a bit odd. Like are there really a significant number of transhumanist anarchists? At most I have seen some “anarcho-capitalist” leaning transhumanists that like the former have very little in common with actual anarchists.

Edit: ah, I remember reading some anarcho-transhumanist zine a while ago, which was not so bad (mostly about space exploration), but it seemed like total fringe and not in any way popular amongst anarchists at all.

Well, technically XMPP just sends a new message on edit and tells clients that this should be displayed instead of the old one. So the edit history is fully preserved and how to display it is up to the clients.

What are some good Winter Hardened and Aromatic Plants to put outside my Bedroom window?

I got quite a large Bedroom Window that I like to keep open during the Night and I thought it would lend itself super nicely for some Strong and Nicely smelling aromatic plants just outside it, so that by proxy the room itself always has that lovely plant flavour....

Lavender would have been my suggestion as well.

Is it worth waiting for WhatsApp interoperability anymore ? Is it ever coming ?

I really need to get in contact with some people on WA and have some groups to join and have been waiting for interoperability to get going so I don’t have to use zuck’s app . But the said date march has long passed and I can’t find shit on it or why it didn’t happen anywhere . I have yesterday downloaded the apk from...

Groups are not (yet) supported by the proposed interoperability anyways… and don’t hold your breath. It will likely take years for Meta and the EU in courts before they stop with their malicious compliance.

There are working WA bridges for XMPP and Matrix though if you are willing to selfhost.

Both bridges require you to log into WA with the official app once every 4 weeks or so. You can put the app in a seperate profile and completely kill its process during this time or have an old device somewhere in a closet that you power on now and then. This is possible now since WA improved their multi-client support (maybe 1 year ago or so?).

That said, don’t expect anything other than basic text chat to work via these bridges.

Not impossible, but without a camera to scan the QR code it becomes quite annoying.

Mostly voice calls. People get really confused if it looks like you are using WhatsApp but they can’t call you through it.

fediverse platform for a schools community network

I am looking to host a fediverse platform for a community of non-tech people. These people use mostly ig and some still fb. These people are from a network of schools which are ideologically aligned with libre software and decentralisation. It will include adults and also teenagers, who mostly use IG. This is part of a plan of a...

I think once groups land in Pixelfed and the new app is released on the official app-stores, which will hopefully both happen this month, it is probably the best option if people are used to IG and Facebook.

According to the main developer’s mastodon feed, yes.

It’s written in php Laravel, so it should be somewhat more lightweight than Mastodon, but not massively so.

Mastodon also has a bit of an unjustified bad reputation for that… yes for very small instances it is a resource hog, but it scales reasonably well to larger number of users after that initial bump.

Yeah, I wish the Boomers in my family would understand just how privileged their life is/was.

I have a Tplink Archer C7, which works great with OpenWRT. I also have a gl-inet device, which is fine, but WiFi reception is better with the C7.

If you end up buying a gl-inet device, first check if you can flash a recent mainline OpenWRT image on them. The modified OpenWRT they come with out of the box is often based on an outdated version.

There are books on general soldering and electric control boards etc.

Sorry not an expert on that at all, but I am sure some guidance literature on that must exist. Maybe ask on our /c/fixing community ?

Some preparation work done this evening. Expect the down-time to happen Sunday morning (EU timezones).

Edit: it got a bit delayed, but I am starting soon.

Upgrade was successful, but I am seeing some strangely high CPU load which needs further investigation.

Edit: resolved, seems to have been related to rate limits.

I have no way to test it, but I think the font is mainly looking a bit odd on Windows devices. It is somehow optimized for Japanese letters and Windows doesn’t seem to have good support for that.

Yes, that is a known bug with 0.19.4 I think.

Seems to work here as intended. Maybe some browser plugin issue?
