So, Danish illustrator and graphic designer Preben Dahlstrøm, a true master of the illustrated field guide in the 1970s: I’m trying to find some biographical information on him – but I have nothing more than that he might have been born in Odense in 1917 and died in the 1990s.
@jhilden I'll give this a try. The National Library has Berlingske Tidende as microfilm rolls in their vaults. I ordered the one with the latest date among the search hits (which might be a namesake, about his books or whatever, but let's see). The delivery from the vaults to the reading room takes few days. I'll keep you informed.
@Ttso Cool! This search result strongly indicates that he would have passed away in the autumn of 1998. We also found that he was reimbursed for library loans in 1997; in 1998 the money went to his inheritor(s). https://www.bibliotekspenge.dk/forfatter/Preben_Dahlstrøm
@jhilden It was not him. Unfortunately the National Library does not have microfilms on any of those newspapers which have hits of this name the previous year, 1988. Mostly smaller local publications I guess.
AFAIK there is no Danish equivalent to the Finnish Digital Agency in case you'd like to get hold of the official records (birth, death etc). Instead, you'd first need to know the home community of the person. I'm no expert though.
@Ttso Thanks anyway! Maybe this will turn into a grant project someday, or then I’ll just have a look at the digital newspapers next time I happen to visit Copenhagen
