Are there custom roms that support Samsung A series phones?

US based units may not be able to unlock the bootloader. Partly I think due to the NFC touch less pay systems. I think if the model ends in U then you are out of luck. I have the A13 and A20, both are unable to have the bootloader unlocked from what I understand.

Several A series phones are listed on the LineageOS wiki, but the A31 is not one of them

There are A series phones with custom ROMs. You can check telegram groups or the xda forums for more info on your particular device.

The popularity and demographic of the phone does affect ROM availability a lot, however
