Cnor_Siwas, in Automatically launch f launcher after sleep

It could be a stupid way of achieving this, but I just disabled the preinstalled launcher and now it launches the F-launcher automatically since its the only app that works as a “home screen”. I did this via ADB

Cloudstream 3 though I must admit I don’t have an Android TV

  • But I do use it on my phone all the time
MasterBlaster, in Airplay on Chromecast with Google TV through an app

Wow. Zero comments in over 3 months.

I want the same thing for my degoogled devices. There just isn’t anything out there, even for android. I wish I could give you good news. The closest you will get is miracast if your TV supports it.

breakingcups, in SmartTube, a YouTube Android TV client

I really wanted to love this but it just kept buffering and buffering (at any quality) while the official app did just fine. I’ll try again in a month.

ben_dover,

i think there is a setting to route videos through piped, maybe try turning that off

breakingcups,

Thanks! I’ll give that a shot!

jasep,

There are frequent build updates and the dev is very active. I’m guessing you may have tried it during an ‘in between’ phase when kinks were being worked out after Google changed something. I’ve experienced this before too.

But at the moment it’s quite stable. Used it for hours yesterday on the current build with no buffering issues at 1080p.

hunt4peas,

Yeah, that could be the reason.

LUHG_HANI,
@LUHG_HANI@lemmy.world avatar

That’s unusual. Default settings worked ok for me. I have buffering off and it rarely buffers. Try the in-app update feature if you didn’t already.

@bestusername@aussie.zone avatar

It’s a great app, even if it didn’t block the Google added ads, the sponsor block feature is amazing!

hunt4peas,

Yes. Btw, which Google added ads are you talking about?

bestusername,
@bestusername@aussie.zone avatar

Not sure how to be clearer; the ads before, during and after YouTube videos.

Cavemanfreak,

Yours doesn’t block that??

bestusername,
@bestusername@aussie.zone avatar

I never said that.

LUHG_HANI,
@LUHG_HANI@lemmy.world avatar

You didn’t but it does block ads for anyone reading.

e_mc2, in Missing thumbnails

Even factory resetting didn’t solve the problem! I’m lost…

TheOneWithTheHair, in Missing thumbnails
@TheOneWithTheHair@lemmy.world avatar

Do you have any kind of adblocker installed (perhaps on your router)? Youtube is “going to war” against adblockers.

e_mc2,

Nope, no adblocker. Some other stuff like FX File Explorer and an app called Send Files To TV in order to get the SmartTube apk to the Chromecast. But they both seem legit or not?

sloppy_diffuser, in 2023 Google Chromecast: News, leaks, rumored price, and release window

Waiting on that nividia shield upgrade.

from_the_black_lagoon,

Me too! When was the last upgrade? I want one, but don’t want to buy if a new release is soon

sloppy_diffuser,

2019 around the time the Nintendo Switch came out. I think they use the same hardware. Saw some speculation we probably won’t see a refresh until the Switch 2.

baruchin, in Where should I start?
@baruchin@lemmy.world avatar

That definitely isn’t Android TV but a generic Android device with vanilla software. You could install some streaming apps but not being Netflix certified, you won’t get HD and 4K content on that service. Besides, it’s quite an old Android OS version, so you could have some incompatibilities.

hellfire103,
@hellfire103@sopuli.xyz avatar

The TV is only HD-ready, and I prefer to use DVDs, so that won’t be an issue.

ChadyzGroove, in New Chromecast with Google TV remote shows up in Android 14 Beta

Google has some work to do. While the Chromecast with remote is half the price of the Apple TV, the Apple TV blows it out of the water and I think is worth the price. It’s the only apple product I own. The integration with apps and sports is just fantastic. Also the Picture in Picture support, works really well. Would really like to see Google match what Apple is doing with their TV device.

baruchin, in Music streaming app suggestions.
@baruchin@lemmy.world avatar

With Vi, you referring to ViMusic? Is it functional on a TV? It’s been ages since ViMusic was updated.

Rambler,

Yeah, surprisingly it is for the most part. I used a mouse thinking it might overcome the glitchy bits, but went back to the remote in the end. I’m just looking for something a little more rounded.

Rambler,

Update: still viMusic seems the best android tv solution so far. Anyone have any other ideas?
