Entire album is a god damn rock masterpiece, and most of it was made in Tom Sholz' basement iirc.

dog_,

You would be correct.

correcthorsedickbatterystaple,

any maybe it's obvious to many, but to the few not familiar...the album cover... they aren't flying saucers (exclusively) but...guitars

dog_,

Yes, I can no longer unsee it when it was pointed out to me months ago.

And the rest of the album is so different too

I will never forget when I heard of this band, riding the bus at a new school in the 90s, and my neighbor Pete (who seemed so much older haha) had this album. I was so confused at the name and had to wait until Napster to learn more.

This one is good but the Guns of Brixton is sublime. You can't go wrong with The Clash.

band_on_the_run,

Guns of Brixton is great. The album has a lot of great songs on it, virtually all of them are in my big playlist.

fatboy93, in The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky (1982)

This is such an amazing album with Sirius and Eye in the sky blending in so well

Hey @MESSENGER_24@lemmy.world

You wouldn’t happen to have all your tracks on a YT playlist or equivalent would you?

gcap, in Favorite Human DJ stations, shows or podcasts?

I might of gone off track. Did I?

I’ll try again.

Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael wfmu.org/playlists/HD

Do or DIY with People Like Us wfmu.org/playlists/PL

Should I put up more stuff i find interesting?

zabadoh,

You might as well for posterity’s sake, rather than keeping it all to yourself 😉

MustaSpiraali, in Rush - The Spirit Of Radio (1980)

This song has the top 3 intros of all time. As in the 3 movements in the intro of this song occupies all the three places in top 3 intros of all time.

He had more significant things to do with his life. Whatever, good for him. It worked for a lot of big-shots’ kids. During Vietnam, Bush Jr. spent two years in the Texas Air Nation Guard. During Vietnam, Trump got deferred for bad feet or college 5 times.

Okay that’s good. I’m glad you might check them out. I just posted ma post and the app I use Voyager made the links that were valid. I guess green which is great and thanks for your help and advice there.

I love Mixcloud

When I read your post I thought yeah you’re right, it is a classic croc a crock of shit

I grew up listening to triple J in Australia and were blessed. There were no ads. Also non-corporate being run by the Australian broadcasting Commission.

I’m a big fan of community radio stations and I have been using radiodroid to save favourite stations on my Android phone and an app called shortwave on my Linux machine.

Some of my favourite community stations in Australia and the world would be

2ser

2rrr. That would be yide regional radio

3rrr. Community radio from Melbourne. I don’t know what the triple r stands for there

Just discovered wprb from New Jersey I think and a DJ on there. DJ Solomon. I actually found him while searching for people playing stuff in memory of Steve Albini who passed away recently.

My links are all over the place, for example from podcast addict from the website. There’ll be some coming up from Mixcloud as well so I’ll just put them in however they come up.

Thanks for adding the missing links.

I’d never heard the story about his discharge had been disputed by unit, interesting.

Did he lie about how he broke his ankle to get the discharge, or did he lie about the discharge being related to his ankle?

Not that changes anything, just curious.

ME5SENGER_24,

There’s lots of conflicting information online about it, but nothing completely verifiable, at least not that I could find. There’s speculation that he never completed any parachute jumps, there’s speculation that he lied about the injury, there’s even speculation that he claimed he developed homosexual tendencies in order to obtain his discharge. The only thing verified is that he received an honorable discharge, having finished just 12 months of his 36-month enlistment.
