We all know 20,000 dead children is the universally-accepted standard for genocide, so until the IDF kills 30,000 children we’ll continue to consider this conflict a gentlemanly skirmish between neighbors. The very second 50,000 children are killed, we promise to reassess our position. Or was it 60,000?
Genocide is the destruction of a people in whole or in part. Seeing as there’s still Palestinians left, they clearly haven’t been genocided. We’ll revisit our stance on whether or not it’s genocide once they’re all dead.
The ministry did not change their killed count. They only changed the amount of bodies that were identified.
Say 6 million people got thrown into an oven during the Holocaust. Now there’s not just unidentified bodies, there’s no bodies at all. Does this mean those people were not killed and the Holocaust did not happen?
It’s always rubbed me the wrong way. Especially since LGBT populations never stopped being a target and the good guys hated them as much as the nazis did.
The good guys didn’t care much about the Jewish people either. They shipped the survivors off to Israel because they didn’t want to deal with them at home.

Alan Turing, a British code-breaker during World War II who was later subjected to chemical castration for homosexual activity, has received a royal pardon nearly 60 years after he committed suicide.
Turing was best known for developing the Bombe, a code-breaking machine that deciphered messages encoded by German machines. His work is considered by many to have saved thousands of lives and helped change the course of the war.
So again, why is getting their own country exactly where they wanted not worse than what literally every other group who was targeted by the nazis got after WW2?
The Zionist movement was very active for quite a while before WW2. WW2 was just the moment they benefited from maximum fearmongering and were able to capitalize on the “we need a Nazi ethnostate to defend ourselves” propaganda.
Zionism was very conveniently timed tool for the Brits to get rid of many Jews left after WW2. If all the gays were trying to flee to an African nation the Brits would had likely accomodated too.
The reason them being gifted a country that they wanted is a bad thing because of the effect it’s had on the native population in the area.
There’s an argument that people make that Jews were indigenous to the area. That is probably true, but so are the Palestinian people. Depending on how you look at it, the ancestors of the Palestinians may have actually pre-dated those of the Jewish people in the area. However, what’s even more relevant is that the Jewish people who returned to create the modern state of Israel had not lived in the area for over 1000 years.

But my point was that NYT didn’t do what the onion article title says they did. I am not trying to defend NYT in their ignorance when writing their title, I just wanted to know how the onion title was related?
The killed count did not change. Just the amount of fully identified kills.
New York Times is intentionally writing misleading headlines and counting in strange ways to misrepresent the actual amount of Palestinians killed by israel.
