hey folks, we'll be quick and to the point with this one:...
Yesterday, you probably saw this informal post by one of our head admins (Chris Remington). This post lamented some of the difficulties we’re running into with the site at this point, and what the future might hold for us. This is a more formal post about those difficulties and the way we currently see things....
update: we're compiling them now, new suggestions have about 4 hours to come in before i call it and lock the thread. thank you for all of your suggestions...
hello folks!...
Compiling this data was not as hard as I expected, let's go through the data and the shiny graphs!...
hey folks, here's a quick update on our decision to defederate from sh.itjust.works! (and here's sh.itjust.works's side of this update)...
This is more of a question for the admins, but this can certainly be a more open discussion....
There are different opinions on Beehaw's registration process. I kind of see how some people would find it dissuasive, specially after most of us are coming from Reddit. But I still think it's very practical, at least for the time being....
Apologies for the clickbaity title or for the messy wording to follow. I’m not great at articulating myself....
There are a lot of tanky posts coming from lemmy.ml. Their whole purpose seems to be to troll and spread their bullshit far and wide. They are nearly as bad as the alt-right. They argue in bad faith and celebrate authoritarian oppression. The beehaw mods might want to consider defederating.
obligatory preface: we’re 100%-user funded and everything you donate to us specifically goes to the website, or any outside labor we pay to do something for us....
Beehaw is a community of individuals and therefore does not have any specific political affiliation. At this point in time, we do not know what the political leanings of most of our users are. I would suspect that many of them would identify as progressive because we are explicitly a safe space for minorities. What we stand for...
Hey all,...
good morning, Beehaw...
We hope this logo will look more friendly to people 💖...
We've defederated from :...
So, recently some fediverse admins (mostly Mastodon) and the founder of Mastodon, Eugen Rochko (Gargron), where contacted by Meta/Facebook for an NDA meeting. We know nothing about it, but we're pretty sure that it was about this project92 thing that Meta/Facebook is creating to "compete" with Twitter....
quick dual announcement...
welcome to the second-ever Beehaw Community Survey. it’s been awhile because of everything going on; we last did one of these with the influx of people last June and we got 1,500 responses that time. we don’t expect anywhere near that many this time, but that’s fine....
Permanently deleted
we accidentally did the upgrade just now, which is what you just experienced. anyways we're at like double the power and processing, and three times the storage we were previously at so yeah hopefully that'll be good. anyways i guess i'll leave this post stickied until i go to sleep in like an hour
I recently made an account on Beehaw because I’ve been having pleasant interactions with the instance from my lemm.ee account. Some good threads, seemed like a progressive space. So I went back to the philosophy documents and read them again, liked most of what I saw (again) and signed up for an account today. Decided to break...
I’m out of the loop. Are we federating with Threads or not?...
Personal Reflections...
