[QUESTION] Flatpak or AUR?

I’ve been using arch for a while now and I always used Flatpaks for proprietary software that might do some creepy shit because Flatpaks are supposed to be sandboxed (e.g. Steam). And Flatpaks always worked flawlessly OOTB for me. AUR for things I trust. I’ve read on the internet how people prefer AUR over Flatpaks. Why? And...

Right. So my priority should be like this:

Proprietary: Flatpak

Open Source: Official Repo then AUR

Alright, got it. Thanks.

to me, it's very sad that firefox tracks search data

If I want to opt out, I can only opt out by disabling all usage telemetry according to the official doc …mozilla.org/…/share-data-mozilla-help-improve-fi… . That means that my usage habits and the usage habit of all people that do not want to share their search terms with firefox, i.e. all somewhat privacy interested...

The gemini protocol seems interesting.

GNOME is bad. Abandon GNOME. If you like the UI of Windows, try KDE Plasma 6. It’s much more feature rich than GNOME and very customizable too. And touchpad speed can be adjusted in the System Settings application.

Excited to see the increase in Linux desktop usage.

Yeah KDE Plasma looks and functions alot like W10.

I agree. But using Windows XP these days is a huge security risk. W10 not getting security updates at least for the next 2 years is probably something that can be overlooked, but it will at some point be vulnerable to automatic attacks like XP. I’m sure there are some websites on the web that try to automatically exploit some major exploits that have been lrft unfixed in Windows XP. I’d advise them to switch to Linux Mint or something instead of using that old vulnerable system.

Why fear downvotes? There’s no reputation system like karma in reddit here.

The funny thing is that most of those pedophiles who share CP or any of that child sexual shit on the internet don’t use your casual normie’s go-to messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram. If they find out that the EU can now request decryption keys to decrypt their stuff, then they’ll switch to something which can’t be circumvented by law and probably start encrypting the messages manually instead. The smarter ones probably already started out like that without trusting any provider in the first place. The only ones that’ll get caught in this chat control bullshit are the retarded ones. Didn’t think a region that was all pro-privacy with their GDPR and their DMA and stuff would actually agree to this.

Tips on distro for gaming Swedish

Hi! I’m getting a new laptop any day now and I plan on going back to Linux after maybe a decade on Windows. What works best for gaming nowadays? Is manjaro good for that? I prefer a distro with a nice name but of course that’s not the central thing. I’ll also do some book keeping, writing et cetera but I don’t think...

Any distro will do honestly. If you are a beginner and just want the distro to work out of the box, something like Pop!_OS might be for you.

I found the arch wiki to be helpful.

Would be nice if authors could see the amount of stars their content has.
