Not the best job, but I guarantee it’s having an effect.
I say this as someone who finally gave Linux another chance about a month ago (due to annoyances with Microsoft) and it’s going really well!
Even a noob like me can just install KDE and learn a few “launch through steam” tricks and I’ve had very minimal issues!
I think a lot of the casuals like me still think Linux is all terminals and command lines, but it’s clear it doesn’t have to be now. And Microsoft’s campaign is what pushed me to come look again!
Not sure what you have, what your trying to do, and am pretty new to Linux myself, but I’m running KDE neon with a 3070, and after a little work to get drivers updated I’ve had minimal issues!
I’m not doing anything too crazy though, mostly web browsing and gaming is all.
Someone who is supporting awful things around the world, but will (at least temporarily) protect myself and my community. or
Someone who will continue supporting awful things around the world, and will without a doubt persecute and hunt me and my community.
It’s a shit choice. But its an easy choice. One candidate is a very real threat to not just myself, but my friends, family, and community. The other is not.
I’d love our magic 3rd option to show up and be viable, but they won’t. We all know this.
It’s because of those 4 years that we can’t let it happen again… He showed us exactly what he would like to do. But now he’s had a practice round and can make “better” plans for next time.
So the people doing nothing are causing more harm than the people actively hunting and persecuting me?
I’d disagree. That’s like saying my neighbors who didn’t put out the fire in my house are just as bad as my other neighbor who started the fire in the first place.

I’d argue an airfryer is better to leave alone then an oven. They turn off on their own, so if you forget about them, it runs its 20 mins or whatever then turns off.
Thank you for mentioning hots, because that’s like the ONE steam game I couldn’t live without. Good to know it’s possible, even if I have to play true full screen vs windowed.
Statcounter reports that Windows 11 continues to lose its market share for the second month in a row. Windows 10, meanwhile, is gaining more users and is now back above the 70% mark.
I just got a steam deck, and needed to install FF14 (non steam) so I was mucking around in desktop mode… yeah. I’ll prob be getting a spare drive for my tower now to try out Linux. I’d love nothing more then to cut ties to windows.
The company’s team clarified that their terms prohibit third-party apps from disabling ads, as it denies creators their due reward for viewership. It’s not bad to be skeptical considering their record. It’s responsible. Yes. It’s good that they are doing something to make things more safe. But yes it’s also good to continue to call attention to the ways this new tech can (and almost certainly will) be abused.
They dug their own hole of skepticism, not us.
I don’t really care if someone’s “tired of hearing ACAB” if people are still losing their lives unjustly to bad cops. Continuing to raise awareness in any little way is better then not being annoying.

Yeah I have almost no apps on my Home Screen. Just one page of widgets, and 3 pinned to the bottom.
Otherwise if I want an app I just use spotlight. Quick swipe down and the first letter or 2 of any app and I’m in. I almost never touch the App Library.
This prob comes from using spotlight so much on Mac as well though.
Are you aware that slack has a back button? Makes getting back to that original channel a breeze. Even works with thumb buttons on my mouse like pretty much every browser.
Or ctrl + k and you can just type part of the channel name/person name etc to quickly go back to it.
Also just a emote to acknowledge a message without spinning up a thread is my go to. Just a 👍”yep I see this”
Why can’t I make a thread? Why can I only use one emote? Why can I sometimes see a message on my phone but not on the computer? Why is there an “old” and a “new” teams app? Why does each one constantly ask me to use the other one? Why are there god damn Mabalene video filters, but yet my god damn calendar won’t sync properly with outlook. Why when I update my picture, does 1/3 of my team see the new one, 1/3 sees the old one, and 1/3 just sees my initials. I’d continue but my thumbs are tired.
Teams actively makes communicating with my team more difficult and I hope it dies so soon.
I’m super happy to see this. Just a few years ago, I was working as QA in a studio adjacent to this group. (We had our own QA, but worked alongside the activision group) and god they needed to do this.
So happy to see them fighting back. I hope the rest of the employees who don’t get fucked QUITE as hard as QA join too.
As someone who worked for Activision, in QA, on major CoD titles, I guarantee you that wasn’t QAs fault.
I can’t even count the amount of bugs my team found, documented, and raised a hell of a stink about, that still went live.
Major bugs like that in live are not due to QA missing them. It’s due to the rediculous pace ATVI makes the team put out content. Doesn’t matter if QA reports something, if the devs are not given the time needed to fix it.
I don’t care if anyone has a Xiaomi, Oneplus, Samsung, etc. Each brand is using a modified version of Android, and they chose to be compatible with each other. But for example the “blue vs green bubble” drama is a thing specifically because of Apple locking their unsuspecting users into a closed ecosystem. And it sure...
It really just depends on if you prefer customization or reliability.
For example, I’m an apple boi because I like that every app in the store is made specifically for an iPhone (which is easy for devs to do since there’s little variation). It leads to better maintained and performing apps because devs can optimize for the device it’s running on.
On android, you have way more choices, which some people prefer. But for myself, I get really annoyed when I launch an app and it fills 95% of my screen, but not all of it, because my phone is slightly taller then the 2000 other variations out there. It’s much harder for a dev to optimize their app when there are so many variables to account for on android.
Neither phone (or company for that fact) is better. They serve different demographics of users is all.
