The sun sucks, being forced to shower like every 4 hours just to not feeling sweaty, the fucking mosquitoes, the fact you can’t wear anything that you want anymore due the heat, the people outside… The fucking beach. I’m guessing you’ve never been to a tropical place during summer. They’re not exaggerating, any physical work you do within a couple of minutes you start sweating, it’s hell.
Couldn’t agree more with all your points. I don’t mind sunny days, but summer has been miserable these past few years, the heat makes me exhausted and letargic, thank God for AC. Winter on the other hand is bliss (at least where I live), mild temperatures, no bugs… I wish it would last forever.
Listen lads, lasses and lassless, I got a long day ahead of me, having to upgrade pict-rs, postgres and lemmy, so there might be some intermittent downtimes. You know how it is around here…not professionally at all....
I really like this one, it’s like a mix of anime and Tartakovsky, very unique. Somewhat in the same vein of Panty and Stocking now that I think about it.
I know evolution is governed by chance and it is random but does it make sense to “ruin” sleep if there’s light? I mean normally, outside, you never have pure darkness, there are the moon and stars even at night. In certain zones of the Earth we also have long periods of no sunshine and long periods of only sunshine....
However, it is very well acknowledged in the field that modern society is built on an early bird schedule and that completely screws over night owls. (To my memory, night owls tend to score lower on tests, pursue higher education less than early birds, tend to be less promoted and generally less successful than early birds. Inversely, night owls tend to do better in evening classes than early birds.)
Makes sense. As a kid up until 4th grade I used to go to school in the afternoon and I used to have good grades, 5th grade onwards I started going to class very early in the morning, my grades plummeted immediately and I started to hate school.
It’s not the gotcha that they think it is. Increasing share of Linux, steam deck or not is progress. Any development or considerations made for the SteamDeck and its Arch based OS benefit the non SteamDeck Linux gaming scene too....
My understanding is that it implies most Deck owners aren’t using them for anything other than purely gaming, then switching back to Windows for everything else. I kind of agree with that point, sure there are more Linux machines out there, but people are still using Windows over them, if the Deck was a standard PC and people were ditching their Windows machines for it that’d a different story. That said, it still means more people using Linux at the end of the day even if just occasionally and in a very restricted way, make of that what you will.
It’s not that the PS5 is doing bad (it isn’t), it’s that they want more money, simple as that. They saw what Microsoft was doing and they decided they wanted a piece of the pie too.
To be honest Youtube has always been slow to me, especially their streams. God, their streams are an absolutely resource hog, I’ve never seen a chat use up so much CPU power.

Decided to go back to Dwarf Fortress after a long while, I’ve been basically re-learning the game and trying some !!fun!! stuff I’ve never done before. Funnily enough I think I just built my most successful fortress, outside of a really nasty tavern fight that resulted in the death of two children, one dwarf and their cat (the drunkard literally grabbed the poor sod by the tail and smashed it into a statue to death LOL), everything went rather smoothly. Lots of forgotten beasts passing through the caves, one got in while I wasn’t looking (lol) but was dispatched easily without casualties.
Thinking about building a fort on a volcano next, see if I can do some crazy magma wizardry.
It definitely has a learning curve at the start, if you’re still interested the new version has a tutorial in-game now, I can’t vouch for how good it is because I’ve never used it though. There’s also plenty of quick and easy tutorials online, I learned the basics from this one by Peridexis but it’s rather outdated by now, the wiki has some recommendations on more up-to-date ones.

I mean, if you watched the movie then you’ve experienced the manga minus the filler. It’ll be interesting to see an adaptation truer to the tone of the manga though.
It’s interesting how catholicism is both monotheist and polytheist in a sense, there’s only one god but you still pray to all those saints to act on God’s behalf. There are so many “pagan” rites and beliefs that got somehow absorbed into the faith over time, it’s truly an amalgam of old Indo-European religions.
Also to your second point, I’m pretty sure they meant that Genesis is poetical symbolism as opposed to a literal historical account, which seems to be what most denominations nowadays that aren’t completely cuckoo crazy agree on, the Catholic church included.
Summer is the worst season of the year, isn't?
