What are the most private social media platforms?

I’ve been feeling uneasy about the privacy implications of using Lemmy and similar platforms. The ability for anyone to view your entire posting history feels to me like publicly sharing my browser history. In contrast, most other social media platforms allow you to limit your feed visibility to just friends or followers....

CoderSupreme,

It isn’t, the open source ones that I now are Llama, Mistral and Grok

CoderSupreme,

I don’t really understand what you mean, but this gave me an idea. I can save the version of the software to a file after applying the patch, and then set up a cron job to check if the new software has a different version. If it does, the cron job will apply the patch and update the file with the new version.

CoderSupreme,

Yeah, I hadn’t read it but it appears to be all in docker ready to follow the instructions and install quickly.

CoderSupreme,

Yeah and IPFS is also JUST the same as I described, except it’s not and neither is this. I haven’t seen a single useful use case of IPFS and I doubt I will see one of this.

However, I still find myself using some big tech platforms like Twitter and Google News fairly often. While federated social networks are compelling, the content curation and discovery on platforms like...

However, I’ve encountered a particular package that hasn’t seen updates in months, which has me exploring alternatives. Can anyone recommend an exhaustive...

Custom Sorting Algorithm Marketplace for Lemmy. Is it Feasible and Useful?

I recently came across a proposal to create a marketplace of sorting algorithms for Lemmy, allowing users to browse, select, and even create their own custom sorting algorithms. This would provide more advanced users with additional ways to customize and sort content, and give the community the ability to share their creations....

CoderSupreme, (edited )

The main problem I see with that approach is that the dropdown with the algorithms is getting ridiculously long. Even if the algorithms are only added through GitHub there should be a way to customize which ones to show.
