The silver lining, for me, is that I’m doom scrolling less due to the smaller amount of content here. But yeah, we need more creators here (I am not good at coming up with memes)
The university should be the place demonstrating socioecological change, serving as a site of experimentation and praxis (see Dunlap et al., 2023). This, however, could not be further from the truth. Beside advancing technologies of digital, political and military control (Chatterjee & Maira, 2014), not to mention genetic...
For me the first thing that comes to mind is Tales from Earthsea. I don’t think it’s excellent or anything and has plenty of problems but people act like it killed their dog. While it has its problems that have been covered extensively, I think it has a beautiful atmosphere and art....
Part of me really buys into the idea that Musk is pulling an evil mastermind move with his other billionaire pals, destroying one of the biggest social media sites to keep users fractured. End goal keeping any community small and unable to organize at scale. Then the voice of reason tells me this just another egotistical nepo baby trying to staunch the hemorrhaging of money from his last bad investment.
For me, ________ is basically all sports games that have ever been broadcast. Most of them are just locked away somewhere, with literally no legal way for anyone to see them.
Agreed. This is a terrible take. Is basically implying “both sides are the same”, a staple in the ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM group but they’re not. Blue side wants to maintain the status quo and maybe, very slightly, make light progressive changes (but again very small changes) while red side is trying to destroy social safety nets (cutting socials security), women’s autonomy (roe vs wade and more) and democracy itself (Jan 6). That’s not to mention that Republicans for the most part built their ideology based off hate. Their drive comes from reactionary outrage.
In the article, the owner using it says he only decreases price while you shop, since having increases during shopping would push customers away, and he’s absolutely right it would. So price increases would only happen overnight/closed hours. The owner talks about competing his low prices with competitors so it can be a race to the bottom. But I doubt most companies would use the pricing this way, most likely there will be surge pricing during weekends and after work.
I don’t understand this sentiment. Don’t you want Lemmy to grow and overtake the big platforms? If there’s specific people or instances you don’t like, you could block them. I see no reason to gatekeep Lemmy. I say this as an ex-redditer.
