For some reason I’ve just never liked Spider-Man. He comes off as a whiney, ignorant child that never seems to grow up or mature despite everything he goes through. I love a good coming of age story, but he just never seems to become an adult.

In 2015, Indiana’s then-governor, Mike Pence, signed a law making the state’s immunity law retroactive to Aug. 26, 1999, four days before the city of Gary initially filed its lawsuit.
How can you sign a retroactive law? Essentially making things legal which were illegal when they were committed and what about criminalising things which were legal? Could people be prosecuted for things that became crimes after they did them?
I am really interested in small scale farm automation but not 3k interested! Keep meaning to automate irrigation which would save me a lot of time watering but not cost too much. Cnoc farming would be a fun project though
Perfect, I will definitely be trying this. I have been looking for an excuse to buy a raspberry pi!
I had a look at the moisture sensors which was really interesting and the waterproofing of the unit which was an ingenious budget idea. I would probably look to use cheaper/ simpler moisture sensors to start with.
One thing I would be interested in is connecting it to a weather forecast service so it doesn’t irrigate when there is rain forecast.
Thank you so much for developing and sharing this.
One drive has a trash for the trash. I’m still not convinced those files are gone after the 2nd empty, I think they just don’t show the other trash cans
Thank you for your hard work. I feel that a delay of a few hours is acceptable for a voluntary service. I am sure there are many commercial services which have much worse communication.
I personally feel that being able to discuss piracy but banning communities that have links that actively promote piracy seems like a sensible safe legal position. This is probably what I would do if there was even a possibility I might be legally liable for an instance.
I can understand users frustration but I don’t think it’s fair to take it out on the admins. It is a thankless task which people do to benefit their community. The great thing with the fediverse is that you have other low cost options to turn to if an instance no longer works for you.
A vulnerable autistic man is pleading with the UK government to block his extradition to the US on cybercrime charges where he faces a 52-year sentence for alleged offending that began when he was a child....
Yeah I mean the language of grooming and exploitation tends not to be associated with hacking. However a 14 yo without any friends and a difficult home life starts getting admiration from a peer group for hacking into systems could soon lead to them getting drawn into greater illegal acts to gain approval.
While it has real consequences, I think hacking can feel a little less real than breaking into a bank, especially for kids. I am certain if the money spent by the authorities in 52 years incarceration was invested into rehabilitation, society would benefit much more.
I think the credit card companies cover that usually. I suppose the question is if you are in the UK hacking a US account where is the crime taking place?
We have some forks which are made out of really thin tin you can bend them very easily. I hate those forks. No one uses them. I wish they would take the hint and fork off, instead they hang around trying to blend in with the better cutlery and get picked by accident.
Around 600 drivers seeking to overturn fines for speeding after a fake 50mph sign was placed on a dual carriageway in south east London will not have their penalties waived, the Metropolitan Police said....
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Our prosecutions team, which deals with speeding offences, has taken legal advice and the location of the 50mph sign would not have impacted the enforcement.”
Often the speed camera is set a little above the limit. I think this means that if the cars had been doing 40 or less up to the sign accelerating to 50 at this point would not have triggered the camera…. Or maybe just no shits given…

I don’t think it’s free but it is free-er . You have an admittedly shitty balance of power between politicians who want to be voted for and capitalists who want to make money and voter/consumers. The population, who as a collective, want excellent public and private services with low prices/ taxes and generally not too concerned how that happens. Don’t get me wrong there are lots of fantastic people in the world and most people I meet I think are genuinely decent. A person is smart but people are dumb.
I’ve been driving an automatic since I passed nearly a decade ago. In that time whenever I tell anyone I drive auto, it’s usually met with some level of derision. I think that attitude is changing, but I’m still kind of confused by it in the first place....
It shows a laziness and a lack of interest in the skill of driving! I bought my first automatic last year. I generally like it, with auto hold and cruise control it makes driving very easy. I don’t like it on ice and snow, no idea what the car is doing. Similarly pulling away quickly, never quite now which gear it’s going to choose when or when the turbo is going to kick in which can make things a bit unpredictable.
Nah I think they just got a judge who gives a shit about humanity…
The Section of the Public Order Act 1986 lays out rules for how police can control “public assemblies” – defined as a gathering of two or more people in a public place.
Police officers can issue them if they “reasonably believe” that the protest “may result in serious public disorder, serious damage to property or serious disruption to the life of the community”.
It can also do so if it belives the purpose of the organisers is to “intimidate others”.
What surprised me was this is the older legislation. I thought they would use the newer anti protest legislation which even legislates against a protest being too noisy.
This shit should be illegal (i.imgur.com)
