I regret buying a guitar, I can’t even do the simplest shit on it according to YouTube… I dunno if it’s laziness or just being tired of sucking so much and not being able to play the music that I like… Maybe a mix of both?
That’s a cool take on it. I feel like I just haven’t found a solid hobby that’s fun to me. I’ve tried several, the only things that have partially stuck are video games, programming, and DND, but they still feel like a chore to keep learning.
Hello, I’ve been working on this TTRPG since I played my first TTRPG years ago. My goal for it is to be fun with some resource management, very sandboxy, and accessible to new TTRPG players....
Plagiarized? No, not intentionally. I’ve only learned the rules for DnD, an Aliens TTRPG, and a D10 based homebrew TTRPG. Day Zero is D20 based, inspired by DND. The main difference that I added is “Mood” which can boost or hinder your checks. Also, stat bonuses aren’t derived from one number (12) to another number (+1). They are a straight bonus. (3 stat points is +3)
Been thinking of making a post like this for some time, apologies if some of this is not completely relevant: this community seems more like it’s about Reddit the platform/product than Reddit the social “thing”, but I’m sure a lot of people have similar experiences to mine. Maybe on some instances more than others....
Like others, being on Lemmy dragged me away from the constant stream of endless gratification. I still check it a few times a day, at most, but much less than Reddit.
What Reddit still has over Lemmy is a huge database of answers. While many people have left Reddit or moved on, their comments stayed, and that includes many searchable and genuine answers.
It also has more communities. Game devs still use Reddit to host a lite web page (subreddit) for example. While the fediverse has many communities, alot of them are duplicates. Every instance has their own Memes community for example, which pollutes the feed sometimes.
In the last year, I’ve made less than 5 posts on Reddit, mostly asking questions. I don’t browse it, I just end up on it from search results.
I wish the fediverse agreed on unique communities. It’s cool that I can communicate with several different websites, but imagine if there was 5 reddit.com’s and they all made their own memes subreddits. Either you have to subscribe to all of them and get duplicate memes, or you sub to one and miss out of 4x more.
Because those 5 reddits are all divided, so is the potential user base. I’m not saying we should go back to a single website, but rather that each website in the fediverse hosts one major community.
Alternatively, have an instance that merges all the other instances’ communities so that all the meme communities appear as one, and all duplicates are filtered out.
I was already a depressed kid. But the story hit different. Most kids stories have happy endings, and Ray Bradbury was probably the first author I read that had more thought provoking stories.
I still eat meat, but I’m aware of the meat industry. I would love if we could thrive on lab-grown meat (where we are only killing cells) rather than the current (killing animals). Now that we’re no longer eating animals purely for survival, we shouldn’t be taking advantage of lesser beings.
Imagine if aliens came to earth and harvested us for food. We can beg and plead, but to the alien minds, who are much more intelligent to us, they interpret our cries as joy.
I cant cut it out of my diet cold turkey. As kids, we are given food and told to eat it. Also, we dont yet have enough vegetarian options that satisfy the same needs.
In another life, I’d be a vegetarian. I think farming milk and eggs (but not with industrial level abuse) is fine.
I would hope they were impregnated naturally, and if so, the calves are added to the mix when they are old enough, or traded with other farms to prevent inbreeding
Is it a ‘thank you for prepping my room’ or ‘please clean my room today’? If you tip post cleaning, it’s likely going to someone else the next day. Many hotels now only do housekeeping on demand. How do employees feel about this - do they miss the tips or are they happy for a less stressful workday?...
4 year. I have the skills necessary to do the job, but my portfolio is lacking. I’m working on a game in my free time, but all last year I applied to game studios and had when they all rejected or ghosted me, I ran out of money.
Why we gave up on learning how to play an instrument?

It's been around a year since a lot of us quit Reddit, myself included. I'm happy with Lemmy, but I still feel a bit lost online since leaving the old site. Discussion?
