DBConnection.ConnectionError

My beloved

SuperDicq, to random

Had to nuke the queue. Could be missing some interactions of the past 13 hours.

Also CDROM is fucked and refuses to process activities at the moment so I also gotta get on that.

I'm really running into IO issues. My instances have really grown too much to be able to run HDDs anymore. SSDs are gonna be required to fix things longterm which means I gotta spend money and do a migration.

Any tips on how to lower IO usage for Akomma/postgress are very much appreciated for now.

SuperDicq,

I also nuked the oban queue on CDROM, seems to work (for now).

Nice CSAM detection AI you got there, how did you train it?

You think Valve is actually save TF2?

They are currently working on Deadlock, their new class based shooter. Connect the dots.

i just had a 20 minute argument with my teacher about why it's fucking stupid to open a new database connection for every single fucking query instead of keeping a single db connection and reusing that

he unironically told me that doing that is bad style

he then proceeded to "correct" my code, immediately introduced a race condition which sparked another 5 minute discussion where i tried to explain said race condition to him

I'm losing braincells

SuperDicq,

@lea Optimizing shit by not opening a new DB connection for every query, isn't that like compsci 101?

do you know any recent affordable Thinkpad models? a friend wants a laptop and saw mine

SuperDicq,

@kaia I'm sure which models exactly are good right now because I'm not interesting in anything post 2009.

But in general the the rule of thumb to consider for buying cost effective refurbished hardware is that the price will usually hit is sweet spot at 4-6 years after release because that is the exact point when computers get written off by organizations who have bought them new in bulk.

So you should be looking for 2018-2020 models now.

a verge article says that twitter now allows porn?

at least now the name change does make some sense

SuperDicq,

@NeonPurpleStar Didn't Twitter always allow porn?

Buying domain names is a scam.

The elite don't want you to know this but mapping domain names in your /etc/hosts is free and you take them to localhost. I have 458 domain names.

no crontab for user - using an empty one

Select an editor. To change later, run 'select-editor'.
  1. /bin/nano <---- easiest
  2. /usr/bin/vim.basic
  3. /bin/ed

Choose 1-3 [1]:
SuperDicq,

This gives me a fun idea that I will never have the time to develop so someone else does it:

A bot called "Fedi installs Gentoo" on an empty virtual machine with a Gentoo iso where on each command input it posts a poll on what to type next.

SuperDicq,

@icedquinn Hipster

SuperDicq,

@thegreatape I mean for just editing a single line in your crontab it should be bearable.

SuperDicq,

@Hyolobrika These are the options crontab provides you by default, there is no further context, you have to choose.

> people using blender as a vtube renderer

well. i guess people are putting eevee to good use.

SuperDicq,

@icedquinn I like calling it that too instead of "non-copyleft" because it makes BSD people seethe.

SuperDicq,
SuperDicq,

@Hyolobrika They do not in fact negate copyright, but I understand what you're trying to say. The point is indeed to make sure that free software stays free.
