Fontana police did not return an email seeking comment. Three of the involved officers remain employed with the department. One other officer has retired.

This is why you can’t make the “bad apples” argument. The fact that the department still tolerates them shows that they’re all rotten.

Plenty of the Eurovision songs were in the Spotify top 100 the last few days, the Israeli song was nowhere to be seen.

Actual antisemites are by far the biggest winners of this. Because pro-Palestine opinion is so widespread and the word “antisemitic” has been thoroughly dragged through the mud, calling actual Nazis out for antisemitism barely registers anymore. The word lost its meaning and getting called antisemitic is almost cool now.

Bulletins and News Discussion from May 6th to May 12th, 2024 - The Nagorno-Karabakh Nosedive - COTW: Armenia (hexbear.net)

Image is of Stepanakert, essentially the capital of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is now a ghost city, and Azerbaijan has recently torn down the parliament building and various other important places. Sourced from this article....

Journalists vagueposting on twitter but apparently the Israeli Eurovision delegation harrassed the Dutch participant and made fun of his dead parents (which his song is about), the Dutch guy punched someone and now Eurovision is (maybe?) disqualifying him. The show is being delayed, nobody is saying anything concrete. This is all rumours, could be wrong entirely, but something almost definitely happened between the Dutch and Israeli parties. The local reporters say it’s total chaos and nobody really knows what’s going on.

They’re really gonna burn everything to the ground to protect Israel’s impunity.

Edit: Apparently the Italian girl just sang Imagine by John Lennon for no discernable reason.

Edit 2: All press conferences scheduled for today have been cancelled, everyone is confused

Edit 3: Seems like the Dutch guy was a huge fan favorite and he called out the Israeli woman during press conferences before. Now the rumor is that he got in a fight with a photographer. It does seem like he’s being disqualified. There’s also a video of an Israeli journalist harassing him.

Edit 4: Spanish journalist also harrassed by Israelis at Eurovision

Edit 5: Joost Klein is not performing during the Jury show. They’re saying this has nothing to do with Israel but there was an incident with a Swedish photographer but I don’t buy it. This is, from what I know, the first time something like this has happened. You’re telling me no Eurovision contestant has ever gotten in a fight before a big show? Nobody has ever thrown hands during this yearly freak show of rival countries? This is the first time someone needs to be disqualified? Shut the fuck up.

I always found it ridiculous that Fallout takes place like 200 years after the big war and it’s still such a wasteland. It would look like that for maybe a single-digit amount of years after humans start living on the surface again. Humans build things very quickly.

Gamers: Everything is allowed in humor. Don’t be so easily offended, it’s just a joke, everybody is just looking for reasons to get offended.

Game: You seem to like men.

Edit: I just want to add that I don’t think this is an issue that needs to ruin a marriage. In the US, there are plenty of couples who have healthy marriages but one is a republican and the other is democrat with very different outlooks on things. They make it work by given each other freedom it express their beliefs outside of their home while focusing on the things they have in common at home.

That’s how you know these liberals are unserious bozos. If China was actually committing a genocide and your husband was denying it, that should be a dealbreaker. That would make him a fascist and worse. But, y’know, they don’t really care about that, it’s just about performing unquestioning loyalty to the empire.

It’s incredible just how fearful US cops are. The training must be pure psychological torture.

Pentagon Has Opened Over 50 Criminal Probes on US Aid to Ukraine (archive.is)

spoilerThe Pentagon’s inspector general said its criminal investigators have opened more than 50 cases related to aid provided to Ukraine, including some involving contractors, but have yet to firm up any allegations. The investigations, which are at different stages, are looking at issues including “procurement fraud,...

I can’t see Israel participating. Eurovision has a lot of young viewers, and young people have overwhelmingly negative opinions about Israel. They can’t vet the entire live audience.

without a strong American military to stand up to the Soviet Union during the Cold War, you’d be speaking Russian right now.

sicko-wistful

As a liberal raised during the backlash to the Iraq War, my attitude towards the Military Industrial Complex has really changed in the aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and China’s seemingly inevitable invasion of Taiwan. Add in the possibility that the US could be dragged into new wars in the Middle East and even possibly South America, and I really don’t think we have the luxury to say “weapons bad, let’s not build any”.

Either way, even shitty science should be freely accessible so your point doesn’t make any sense.

It really shouldn’t. We saw through the COVID vaccine hysteria just how harmful shitty science can be. A lot of people died completely preventable deaths because we live under the illusion that reason prevails under the free marketplace of ideas or some nonsense like that.

15 years ago today, the global banking system collapsed. And the savings of everyday people were raided to save it. Satoshi created Bitcoin so it would never happen again.

I wish more people knew about Bitcoin’s connection to the bank bailouts. Bitcoin unfortunately does not have the best brand ambassadors. This week is a great opportunity to tell your friends about it, because it matters....

If I point a gun to your head and tell you to send me all your bitcoin, you will probably do so, and then you will call the police to tell them that I robbed you at gunpoint. The police will then arrest me and make me return the bitcoin to you that I stole. When you call the police after I stole your Bitcoin, are you trusting a centralized authority to decide whether or not the transaction was legitimate? After all, if I check the blockchain, the transaction seems perfectly fine.

Blur and OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplaces, both have measures in place to attempt to stop the sale of stolen NFTs. Should we trust these centralized platforms to decide whether or not a token should be tradable? Should we demand they abolish these theft protections in the name of decentralization?

As long as there exists a state with an authority on violence, Bitcoin being decentralized is a mere technicality. All power comes from the barrel of a gun. If the state wants to take your Bitcoin to pay for another war, they can do so regardless of what the code says by simply having the police knock on your door.

Do you want to abolish the state altogether? If you think all centralized authority is bad, what are your thoughts on the crypto space getting increasingly centralized? What do you think about Yuga Labs buying up other top NFT collections? Should they be allowed to do this and if no, who should stop them? How does Bitcoin solve any of the problems you outlined and do you really think that if the government hadn’t been able to print money, they wouldn’t have found another way to bail the banks out?
