Human shields is not just a way to retroactively justifiy civilian deaths within a military target. It is also used as a way for the premeditated murder of civilians while using military target as an excuse.
So when Israel kills hundreds within a civilian refugee camp to kill one military target/hostile, that is using the military target as an excuse for destroying and terrorizing the population. e.g: (Wolf Blitzer/IDF spokesman bombing a refugee camp) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyqFFsRifFM&t=2s
It’d probably best serve Palestinian cause to condense why and how Israel’s campaign into Gaza is genocide with bullet points/talking points.
For example:
Cite Osama Bin Laden using the justification of collective punishment on Americans when justifying collective punishment on Palestinians.
As an occupying power, Israel is responsible for the welfare of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Gaza is in a state of famine.
Palestinians in Gaza are denied medical care, food, shelter, clean water.
Palestinians in Gaza are being shuffled around through the strip in a labyrinth of death, being attacked wherever they are moved to.
All qualifies under ethnic cleansing.
Bring up Ministry of Intelligence leaked document on a proposition to ethnically cleanse them to the Sinai.
Bring up ICJ ruling that genocide is in a state of legal possibility within the Gaza strip.
Bring up the very dialogue Israeli politicians were making up to a month or two of October 7th musing and seeking policy implementation of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Maher relies on collective willful ignorance, racism, or naive confusion - as the facts are deliberately obfuscated by mainstream media - on behalf of his audience to justify Zionist practice of genocide and oppression.
At best, I appreciate Burr just treating this like a professional obligation rather than the simulated friendship portrayed here.
It’s really hard to believe that this will be the “last straw” as it was so blatant, obvious, and out in the open. I’m hoping that Bushnell’s last protest will be the catalyst that invigorates the people in the core to stop this massacre.
Events like this, and the events of the past 5 months, have made it blatantly and obviously clear. Where you no longer have to be an esoteric scholar of Israel-Palestine, since you can just read and see the news and events in live action and in the moment. This was never about security. Nor about Hamas. This was about seizing the opportunity to extinguish Palestinian life in Gaza, and eventually in the West Bank.
South Africa, Bushnell, and those who stood up and marched against Israel and for Palestine. Against genocide. It wasn’t for nothing.
Bush doing a judicial coup and succeeding is far more disruptive of social norms than Jan 6th was. Bush’s invasion of Iraq was more destructive than any of Trump’s decisions.
Something I’ve learned from talking with people from oppressed groups, is that vengeance and hatred in their hearts is often overcome with a desire to salvage the remainder of their life and overcome their past.
Vengeance, malice, and retribution are poisons and echoes of victimizer that deforms and mutilates the oppressed and we must all live with purpose and humanity.

The only powers that can stop Israel is the US, or half the world finally sanctioning and severing ties with Israel, forcing a faction of the Israeli ruling class to seize power away from Likud or such.
I don’t know if that’s possible since Israel seems to have spent the last several decades priming its population for genocide and now that the moment of opportunity has come it almost seems to be coming into fruition; I don’t know which faction of Israeli society still would stop this from happening if only just to preserve the viability of Zionism, the political climate of Israel has seemingly passed the point of no-return where fascists are the norm rather than the fringe.
You’re on the right track but the solution isn’t electoral reform for government, but the revolutionary reorganization of society to disempower the class of people who own and use capital goods (i.e, means of production, distribution, livelihood, and property) for private profit and shift power towards labor and the state. To shift production for profit value and instead to use value, dismantling the incentive and social structure for overproduction, excess waste, and false scarcity.
As you’ve detected, Biden isn’t doing this just on his own whim but because the state and political economy require him to; the state under the control of a socialist party backed by a revolutionary working movement and class will see those pressures dismantled and obliterated. Conversely, Biden’s behavior isn’t predetermined either. He does have the power to maneuver against these wars, and there is possibility to ameliorate and restore a 2021 status quo for both Ukraine and Israel-Palestine, without weakening the US’s position, but Biden has chosen not to.
The solution isn’t fairer distribution of the loot or more parliamentary democratic reforms.

I think a lot of post-Bernie socialists started out at the same thought and aspiration: “*I just wanted some help starting my life. I don’t want to worry about increasing costs of living, rent, food, clothes, food, healthcare, education and job training. I want my opinion and voice to matter to my company, my community, my society.”
Some people went further with it, deciding in their mind: *And I’m willing to fight for it through political activism, protesting, mutual aid".
Then others also think in a lateral but not perpendicular way: *But I don’t want to fight for it, risk prison, or give up my comforts. I’ll stick to canvassing for Berniecrats".
I can appreciate being averse to the fetishization and valorization of political violence as form of entertainment or coping mechanism, but eventually society’s dysfunction becomes untenable and unmalleable that a catharsis must come to pass: revolution or fascism.
Not all revolutions are violent. They don’t have to be repeats of the revolutions of a century ago. Revolutions manifest when the administrators of the state - not necessarily it’s enforcers - just lose faith in the state and start defecting. These types of non-violent revolutions can happen.
If thinking about the process of revolution is unpleasant, then imagine a society after a revolution.
