I admit, I saw a Cybertruck when I was about to get onto the NJ Turnpike.

The funny thing is that it’s painted teal with the Cybertruck logo plastered in the back.

I had it on my footage, but funny given that these ugly trucks rust easily.

@yon Not to mention, the Cybertruck harms everyone’s safety if it gets into a crash in a pedestrian or a sedan. It is a very self-fish car, just like the Hummers back in the day that ruin the environment.

Hydrogen cars might be better, but better mass transit would be a net positive compared to more cars and SUVs.

Oof, the SSD speeds are slower on the PowerCenter compared to my G4 MDD or even the G3 B&W. Might be because I'm running a Rage 128 on the same PCI Bus or maybe it's because of the slower processor and bus speeds.

Faster than any SCSI emulator though.

@yon Spinningg rust would obviously be even slower. No need to rest as SCSI can only reach speeds up to 5 mb/s. This is like four times the speed of what the built in SCSI can provide.

@yon Given it’s a machine from 1996, it’s fast, but I have a feeling it’s held back by the CPU. I noticed that when I installed the G3 accelerator on the Power Macintosh 8100, the disk speeds increased as well. Don’t know it will be a case for a pure disk speed test.

But that said, it’s fun to put a SSD in everything, but one needs to turn it on once in a while..

@yon The accelerator cards usually have backside L2 cache, which speeds things up drastically. I am using a 604 without a cache since it’s missing and it doesn’t perform well in certain instances.

Not only that, the 68K emulator kind of depends on that cache, so without it, performance is impacted.

I am really annoyed at best buy right now.
Asus said I had to do an RMA through best buy since that's where I bought the laptop
Took it in, have them explicit details, service record shows all the details about my issue and why it needs an RMA to replace a specific part

Best Buy service center reformatted the drive, reinstalled the latest BIOS, sent it back to local store as "fixed"

So. Fucking. Lazy.

Not sure I want to support Asus, until they clean up their act.

Installing the remaining stuff on the Mac Clone before I publish my first post on it. I still have more work to do on it when I get another G3 accelerator which actually says its working, to make it usable.

The 9600 will probably come when I come back, but I won’t do too much to it yet as I need to get the ATX PSU kit, a BlueSCSI, another GPU, and another SATA adapter, but that won’t be the focus until the future. I need to check how much RAM it actually came with and if it’s fully populated, take some (hopefully there are some 128MB modules) and put it into the clone as this is the focus, for now. May come back to the 9600 in August/September.

Yep, it seems the studio that got caught of having scenes made from animators in North Korea was actually a thing done by a subcontractor. I wonder, how did this happen :bunhdthink:

@yon I wouldn't be surprised given that Chinese studios, which I believe were outsourcing their work under the table to a North Korean studio... which is apparently not allowed.

In the end, Microsoft backtrack on the controversial Recall feature, but I still won't trust it.

Good thing I don't use Windows 11 as a main OS, but a Mac. Haven't used Windows full time since December 2006.

That said, switching to an ATI card basically gets rid of the lower color modes (Black and White, 4 Colors/Greys, and 16 Colors/Greys). Thankfully, I have the Power Macintosh 8100 to play those games, so no big deal.

Darn, it looks like the reduced ROM Radeon 7000 I flashed in 2015 doesn't work on an old world Mac. Time to find a Sun version of the Radeon 7000 to flash the full ROM, as it has a big ROM chip since it also support open firmware like the Power Mac..

Yesterday was crazy, there was a tornado warning that scared me, but apparenty there were reports of tornados, but nothing too serious besides some tree falling down. Thankfully, nothing happened where I live.

Yes, it’s a sign that people should take climate change seriously.

@yon I grew up with quite a few, mostly hurricanes and tropical storms when I was living in New Jersey, which includes Hurricane Floyd, Irene, and the infamous, Superstorm Sandy.

Not a good time, when you lose power too, even for almost a whole week, like I experienced after Sandy.

@yon It's far worst in the south as Hurricanes and even powerful tropical storms hitting New York City is pretty rare, but if climate change gets worse... well.

I guess there are also earthquakes too, but those are really rare, likewise with tornadoes.
