I saw a (what now I understand to be a single stage) steam engine at a museum a few months ago. I must understand how this works. Anyone have any good links to information from “concept” to “operation” for steam engines?...
What do you like to print? I like making useful things. Currently Im working on a system for mobility aids to attach items like phone charger batteries and cup holders… and my ham radio!
I’m really confused about this. On one hand (✋), I can see how dating an autistic person would be amazing because we would just understand each other on another level. We would get each other’s emotions, meltdowns, joy, special interests, hyperfocus, communication style, etc. Also, there’s no NT partner to miss whatever...
My wife is ADHD, and I’m Autistic. I think we balence out each other, though we did have a funny experiance one time where someone (A doctor at a hospital I was at) asked her if she was autistic too, and my wife said, “No, why do you ask?” And the Dr said, “Well they tend to find each other”. I did date one other person before her, and she was on the spectrum, and honestly, it didn’t work very well, because we did not solve each others meltdowns, and when we did, it tended to go badly. On the upside, her ADHD lets her focus on everything that needs to be done at once, while my focus lets me remind her what she was doing, then she reminds me of all the things I didn’t do yet, that didn’t even cross my mind, such as breakfast, or meds. I get asked the tough questions sometimes even like “Have you had water today?”, “Have you eaten?”
Yes, and I’ll include other items I carry on my walker as well: Steam Deck Battery Packs for phones/devices no less then 4 two way radios Ham radio gear Charger cables for everything I own. A change of clothes baby wipes Medication My other wallet. note takeing stuff a laptop? (Sometimes) TI-83+ Graphing Calculator (Gotta have my trusty old guy) Kindle EPI Pens Water Bottle Snacks Other stuff I probably forgot.
I got some good quality noise cancelling headphones 12 months ago and thought they were great. Since doing more reading about ASD and ADHD, I’ve come to understand I have some sensory issues....
Does anyone else do “Iterative cooking”? I like to make sometime, and then make it again, with a little tweak to make it better. I record all of my ingredients and amounts of everything so I can cook consistantly. It’s my dream to make some favorites, and make them the same way every time.
I’m considering making some upgrades to my ender 3 Pro, such as one of the multi material upgrades, but that would require more motors. Anyone know of a good motherboard? Thanks!
I use a cheap pc I was not using, and let it do folding@home when I’m not printing… Actually… it does it while printing too. Anyways, Just get another board that handles klipper and just add it? Is there a specific “USB to Stepper” board, or do I just hotwire in another motherboard. I have the Ender 3 Pro with the “magical probably wont burn down your house” power supply, is that enough for another board, if I’m running another stepper?
Looks to work well with Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. However, you may need to logout, clear browser cache, close and restart your browser for success....
I recall having to explain to someone that we could use netscape navigator, even though we paid for “MacNet” internet service. There was concern that it was not allowed at our house.
So, Last year I lost my vintage computers (most of them a work in progress) in a house fire. I’ve started rebuilding my collection. I’ve got my TI-83+ still, I consider that to be one. It was with me when the fire happened, and I have an old windows 95 computer I got my hands on, still not sure what to do with him yet. Ideas...
I am enamored with the idea of SDF, and I think it is an important part of computing history and the present. That being said, I am curious as to whether anyone actually finds it useful—aside from the fact that it hosts the instance!!
So, Originally I used it to learn the UNIX command line, now I use it for all sorts of things. A lot of social networking. I've tried webhosting, but... well... it's been more miss then hit there. It's a great community though, and I love it!
Hello, epl692 here. Been an SDF user since... Oh... 2006 or so. That was a good year for SDF I think. Well... A good year to sign up. Been with the community since. Not always active, but im enjoying the Lemmy and Mastodon instances, board, irc, com, etc. Anyways, good to be here and still figuring this out. I have a reddit account. But always found the site to be somewhat limiting. Maybe I was shy? Anyways. Hello, world. Anyone know of a good command line client? I found neonmodem, but I can't seem to get it to work.
EDIT: It's neonmodem, not neomodem (made the correction), and it works just fine in the latest version, especially when you get your password right! Ha!
Infodump request: steam engines

Fellow auties, which do you find is a better and healthier fit for you: dating another autistic person or an NT?

Anyone else travel with a backpack nearly everywhere you go? If so, what's in there?
Let’s see how much we have in common with our backpack inventories.

Cooking

What do they have in common? (lemm.ee)
(Wrong answers only!) 😆

How can I donate to SDF? Is there an alternate option to mail/PayPal?
On this page: http://sdf.org/?tutorials/donations it says there's 2 ways to donate. However neither of those seem possible for me....
Good system to get in to.
