funkless_eck,

honestly, I preferred reddit. But I’m here out of principle.

funkless_eck,

“was Russ Meyer a douche?” yes, absolutely.

funkless_eck,

a hippy dippy one:

“whatever time it happened was the right time, whoever was there were the right people, whatever happened was the only thing that could have happened. It is always your time to do it, and same for everyone else.”

funkless_eck,

I posted this in a different thread recently:

=====

it is to illustrate the vastness of infinity not the efficacy of monkeys

assuming one infinite monkey:

sonnet 18 has 592 characters- or a chance of 4.3x10^-848

For scale - the universe is 1.3x10^10 years old.

And the ^-848 was 14 lines, a onehundredth of a single percent of the complete works.

However, it’s infinite monkeys, so the time it would take is effectively how every long it takes for one monkey to type that many lines. A few days? A week? In an infinite monkey cage it’s done at the first attempt: that’s the size of infinity.

If you converted all the mass in the universe to energy, and all the time until it’s heat death and could combine them into one machine: probably not enough to clear Titus Andronicus.

funkless_eck,

reminds me of one of my fave tweets:

“Garbage men and pick up artists should switch names”

funkless_eck,

honestly funniest joke in the franchise

funkless_eck,

Its a good bit. not to get too Theory of Comedy, but I’d call that a lazzi (or “bit”) more than a joke.

funkless_eck,

last two years I submitted in the all hands (supposedly) anonymous feedback for a recognition of pride month. My proposal was to say “Happy pride month to everyone at [my company]. I wanted to take a moment to affirm Company’s commitment to making this a safe, inclusive space for everyone and to celebrate what makes us a great team: diversity, inclusivity and collaboration. Thank you.”

Both times someone got directly in contact with me privately to say it’s “too political”. I suspect because we have offices in some very Conservative and religious areas.

I didn’t try this year. I was saying to my therapist last week that actually now I would appreciate even the blandest, milquetoast, slap-a-rainbow-on-the-logo tokenism.

funkless_eck,

longest living polycephalic calf was 40 days. Most are stillborn, a few live a few hours, even less a few days.

funkless_eck,

same. who the hell is upset at hearing a foreign language in public? Wishing someone bon appetite just driving the right to insanity?

funkless_eck,

Agree to disagree - to me the Uk office was a Gervais vehicle with the Tim/Dawn romance Christmas special episode as a nice bonus and Gareth as an occasional funny victim of his own hubris. Keith and Finchy having a couple of good scenes. Neil, Donna, Rachel, Jennifer, Jamie, Ralph… all very forgettable.

In the US office, as mentioned, I think its a well rounded ensemble comedy where you can feel it’s a collab of a writers room and a complicit cast. Everyone has their favorite moments from pretty much any character…

In the early 2000s I probably would’ve liked the UK office more because I was an edgy teen. 25 years later and after an 8 year run, 200 episodes vs 14 - I feel like I’d much rather turn on the US one if I wanted a laugh.

funkless_eck,

heres a controversial opinion: The American Office vs the UK Office.

While I respect the original, Gervais’ external antics and the much meaner, darker humor just don’t create as good a comedy vehicle that enables the viewer to laugh and have fun and enjoy themselves watching the show

funkless_eck,

training how to do a job is all there is my dude. Even if you founded the company, worked on the code base daily for 15 years, things get updated, practices change, tools evolve, new security vectors emerge.

funkless_eck,

“bull”

OP clear your browser history asap

funkless_eck,

I guarantee that every millionaire has more outgoing expenses without counting anything spent on their children than a large family does.

funkless_eck,

You were scorning the mother for “wasting” money on having kids, but millionaires “waste” more money on their expenditure than having kids would do.

Also, having 7 kids does not mean you can’t be a millionaire, as millionaires are statistically actually more likely to have more kids than average.

Hatred of large families is largely manufactured by the media residue of hating on “Octomum” - a woman who had octuplets during the global recession of 2007-8 as a way of blaming the common folk for not having good sense (despite the fact it was a result of pure chance) and not because banks couldn’t stop themselves from doing multiple crimes every single day.

Finally, Elon Musk has 11 kids.

funkless_eck,

Having a disability is absolutely “luck” as is potentially having kids. No birth control is 100% effective.

funkless_eck,

why is having kids wasting money, but a medical procedure such as abortion not a waste of money? what value is generated from the abortion?

funkless_eck, (edited )

no I’m arguing against the eugenics-based thought-terminating cliche that “poor people are poor because they have children” which is a nonsense.

funkless_eck,

there’s no way Netflix legal team didn’t comb the script with a fine toothed comb

funkless_eck,

it’s such a great diss track. he’s so much better than Mr B

funkless_eck,

He’s ex-C-suite of IBM and Macy’s I’m sure he’s fine.

funkless_eck,

It’s for relationships. if you’re with a new partner use condoms.

This is why Grindr has a Stat for when you were last tested. Straight dating platforms should have it too imo
