Before they will let me publish a new release of XScreenSaver on the "Play" [sic] store, Google, the most rapacious privacy violator ever, insists that a screensaver have a privacy policy.

This is where you come in!

I'd like this policy to be a series of bullet points: "Unlike Google, XScreenSaver will not [Thing.] An endless, concise catalog of their sins.

I need both your snark AND a link supporting your snark. It's critical for the joke to land. Include both.

GO!!

@jwz not privacy specific, but you’ve gotta snark in an “unlike google, xscreensaver will not randomly be deprecated and stop working” angle in there.

my friend teaches creative writing at a private school. he’s now forced to upload a calendar and a detailed syllabus with itemized evaluation points and not deviate from this at all, because the school considers this a contract with the customer (the student). absolute hell.

@lzg I look forward to stories of joyous malicious compliance, as that is the only sane response to these systems.

@vitriolix this feels true both literally and metaphorically.

There is always a point, when I am writing a new talk, that I look over my slides and need to resist the urge to make it positively unhinged.

@aiefel @evacide we clearly need an invite only, tlp:red rant presentation session after hours at a digital security conference

@glyph this is hilarious, but also do we need to get you to the nearest burn center?

Privacy theater is when we use privacy practices to demonstrate intention, even if it doesn't mitigate risk in the wild. For example, why do the Ninja Turtles wear masks? Are there other squads of anthropomorphic turtles with weapons in these streets? What's the point of this? This is keeping me up at night, make it stop

    joncamfield,

The absolutely infuriating thing about Tumblr potentially starting to silently sell off your posts unless you affirmatively check a deeply-hidden opt-out box you can only find out about through word of mouth is, if I bring up my own Tumblr and try to scroll back more than a few posts, it stops me literally saying "Stop: Classified". So I don't get access to my posts, but OpenAI does.
