Minded the dogs while C made tiramasu for tomorrow. Tuxley stuck close to me, and actually let me take his picture this time.

Another cloudburst yesterday while I was gassing up after groceries. Then I saw the rainbows.

Wally has discovered he can sit near the top of the basement stairs and look out the windows and see the backyard, where there are often rabbits. At this point he loses his mind.

I am browsing blinds on Ikea.

Made blackberry vinaigrette chicken salad (with pistachios, avocado, fried goat cheese) for supper. C. made GF lemon coconut pie for dessert. Having a strong cup of tea, watching the Jays play the Orioles. Finishing a poem. A good evening.

Wow, the Jays' City Connect jerseys are bad. Like, I had low expectations, and still, 👎

The most tech bro-ish tech bro I used to know, who when I knew him couldn't write a lick of code (maybe he never has?), has pivoted his online presence from crypto, to NFTs, to the metaverse, to sports gambling: a Magellan of the high seas of shit.

The world is exhausting and all I want is the time and space to make interesting things before my inevitable, unknowable death.

Walked past a tree and there was a Kryptonite bike lock around it in a loop as if there had previously been some object which the lock was affixing to the tree and now the object is not there anymore

@robmclennan I remember she'd been working on this and I've had it at the back of my mind to keep an eye out for it. Ordered!

Been wondering if Google et al know that their generative AI has maxima they won't be able to push past but are continuing to put it in everything purely because it juices the stock price.

Composing is a lot of fun and it's eating all my time to be able to finish stuff at a rate such that I might get a SotW release by next year, so I'm grateful for the poem that came unbidden and largely finished yesterday.

Watching the Jays game and the audio's weird and apparently it's because there's some sort of power failure in Detroit and the broadcast team is calling the game via Dan Shulman's cell phone. It sounds like a tin can. He's joking about whether roaming charges can be expensed. I've watched baseball seriously for twenty five years, never seen a game like this. This is wild.

SEO rumours and tips about what helps place high on Google have ruined the web. Every Pinterest recipe is full of Q&As that nobody cares about ("can I substitute ground lamb instead of ground beef?" — of course you can), and now Baseball Reference is padding their pages with content designed to be useful to Google, not an ordinary user.

IMSLP is a treasure (I'm reading the score for Bruckner's 9th to figure out exactly what's going on in the big first movement).

There is a part of me that wishes I could have continued on horn past university in a context that isn't, eg, community band. I played in a youth orchestra in grades 11 and 12. It was an incredible experience. I miss playing big, difficult ensemble pieces.
