An easy going software engineer that casually enjoys programming, playing guitar, and playing MMORPG games. Yadda yadda yadda, my opinions are my own, etc.

kherge,

Getting some sleep (sober). I’ve learned that the world seems harsher when I’m tired. After a night or two of good sleep, things feel less of an issue.

kherge,

A really nice electric guitar, amp, and pedal. Money was tight as a kid for a lot of reasons, my dad did the best he could. However, this meant playing with some equipment that didn’t sound quite right.

Now I have what I always wanted, but have trouble finding the time and energy to play.

kherge,

Every credit union I have been a part of had some home brewed security system that did not follow best practices. Really felt like they contracted out to some kid still in college just to have something online.

I’m certain there are better CUs out there, but I think the issue is most can’t afford much better.

kherge,

Cat. Dog. Bunny.

Cogunny? Caogunny? Datunny? Dotunny? Buogat?

Bugatti.

kherge,

I haven’t figured this out either, but my wild guess is the greater protein content over carbs in regular flour. I’m thinking of things like keto meal bars, or something.

kherge,

Another one people might be interested in is Lapce. Seems to be the same thing as Zed, but has a Linux build available. lapce.dev

kherge,

We need to know our enemy if we are to defend ourselves.

kherge,

Shareholders are pensioner, IRA, and 401(k) account owners too. Small people with aspirations of retiring one day.

kherge,

World of Warcraft. If your focus is primarily in PvP, then you specifically want to look at Battlegrounds and Arenas in WoW.

kherge,

Makes sense to me. You are either capable or incapable of doing something (badly and otherwise). Practice is just refinement over that.

kherge,

Great idea. Now we need to address the politics of who is paying for the new infrastructure, who will be collecting taxes on it across multiple boundaries (each with their own interests), and how to time share the tracks with others. Then we need to update regulations to help mitigate disaster scenarios in cases where hazardous materials are transported and compromised.

I am not dunking on the use of trains, that should absolutely be done. It’s just not as straight forward to implement when businesses think “this is already here (freeway), and it’s cheaper and easier.”

kherge,

I can understand disqualifying VMs, but why wouldn’t a container be that?

kherge,

Could you please compare WebAuthN to your suggestion? What are the pros and cons as they relate to each other?

kherge,

Is that with or without the included seasoning packet? If I skip using the seasoning, is it still really salty?

kherge,

I don’t know if it’s AWD, but I’m excited for the Fiat 500e coming to the U.S.

kherge,

That last one reads like C’thulhufactor.

kherge,

Apple added (a while back) what they call a “Neural Engine,” which is hardware dedicated to efficient execution of ML workloads.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_A11

They have been refining it ever since. I would not be surprised if they made advancements in both the hardware and software used for local GAI.

kherge,

I get what you mean, but what are millions of people going to do for work instead?

kherge,

The reduction in generics exposed through the public API is a welcomed change. It’s been a while since I’ve used Axum, but I remember enjoying everything except the effects the generics had on how I could make calls and pass things around.

kherge,

I cannot imagine doing this for my work. I need a machine I do not need to worry about breaking or suddenly becoming incompatible with the next update.

kherge,

My bad, it was meant to be a response to the comment about people switching from macOS to Linux.

kherge,

When humans go out on space walks, they bring their death environment with them in bags.

With BlueSky moving towards finally opening up federation, I'm interested in how people feel about it?

Would you be open to the idea of Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, and other Fediverse platforms adopting the AT protocol in order to federate with it?

If those technical hurdles could be overcome, would you support your instance federating with BlueSky?

Does the same go for other commercially-owned platforms, such as Threads and Tumblr?

#BlueSky #Fediverse #Threads #Mastodon @fediverse

kherge,

I go where the people are and the technology serves me best. For now, it’s ActivityPub. If I end up liking AT and most people are on it, I will be there too.

kherge,

I have been looking for a while now. The closest I have ever been was Anytype, but it is not as user friendly or refined as Notion because it is still in active development.
