lobut,

I can imagine it’s just really hot in there with the computers and monitors going.

lobut,

He’s got terrible takes. I don’t like seeing his face or hearing his voice. Why is he in television? Only good thing about Inside the NBA going down is that we won’t see Draymond on it.

lobut,

Yup. I’ve just been purchasing games without the Verified tag now because I’ll just be like: “yeah that seems like it’d work and it typically does”.

I made the mistake of installing Stardew Valley on it for 1.6. Oof, I’m playing it everywhere. Very bad when you can’t handle your addictions well.

lobut, (edited )

Don’t be embarrassed that you thought better of someone. That’s their failure, not yours.

lobut, (edited )

Yeah, I think the only take away is that they’re not Trump sycophants like Aileen Cannon.

It’s not quite the needed win, but it’s still something :/

lobut,

I don’t understand what this is trying to say. The cybertruck is a disaster and I think that social distancing was for COVID right?

Also, I think there’s something called the Flynn Effect and it’s that in general kids are getting smarter with each generation (I think?).

lobut,

Yup, I didn’t buy the Steam Deck to do 4K ray tracing at 120FPS. I bought it so I can pick up any Steam Deck Verified game and play it without relative issue. Being able to suspend the game immediately and just knowing things work beats fiddling with Windows on a handheld.

lobut,

My geophysicist friend laughed at me for a little long when I said “I’m a computer scientist”.

I never took that degree/job position or whatever seriously anyway. I’ve always giggled at software engineering too. I just call myself a programmer.

lobut,

lol, okay that made me chuckle … I liked that.

Although, we both eventually got into the jobs for what we studied for. We’ve made that jokes both in university and when we got into respective fields.

New “Recall” feature in Windows 11 is a privacy nightmare (www.theverge.com)

The new “Recall” feature really does look good on paper, but the taking in mind that it catalogues almost everything you do on your computer, it could turn out to be a privacy nightmare. “logging things you do in apps, tracking communications in live meetings, remembering all websites you’ve visited for research, and...

lobut, (edited )

I mean … I saw that for some reason when I logged into Windows 11 yesterday it had the NBA score in the bottom left. Who the hell asked if I wanted that?

Went back to my Linux/Mint box as I rarely use my windows one but that pissed me right off.

lobut,

How much of that is the NHS getting now? /s

lobut,

Phind.com is pretty good for programming stuff, it’s AI but it cites it’s sources.

lobut,

“some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses”

lobut,

I thought I was gonna start some shit by saying it’s more like being a vegan at a restaurant, but I see everyone’s already fighting.

lobut,

Not really new but probably not that popular for everyone. It seems it was coined in 2010: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_pattern. In the web dev space I was using it like 8-9 years ago, more or less.

lobut,

At the end of the day, you never know.

lobut,

What is it about all these rich people that need to do this type of stuff? Consensual stuff too boring for these guys now?

lobut,

I asked ChatGPT to explain it to me and it came up with this:

This description is discussing a theoretical concept where the universe is shaped like a donut, known as a “3-roid” or “3-tauroid”. In this model, moving through the universe is akin to navigating a 3D surface of a 4D object, similar to how a spaceship in a 2D video game wraps around when reaching the edge of the screen. The suggestion of characters with 4D movement abilities falling out of space and time is a speculative idea based on this theoretical framework.

lobut,

Definitely struck a chord with him 👀

Devout Christian Mike Johnson shows up to hush money trial to defend a guy accused of cheating on his wife with a porn star (www.vanityfair.com)

House Speaker Mike Johnson describes himself as a Christian before anything else. He has said his “faith informs everything I do.” He has told people curious about his views to “pick up a Bible.” His wife reportedly runs a counseling service whose operating agreement, which he himself notarized, states, “We believe and...

lobut,

I was gonna say this was on par for the modern Christianity as we know it. I don’t think death threats are very Christian either but it seems that’s been par for the course now.

lobut,

I’ve had to remove a lot of recommendations. Man, PragerU, Crowder, Shapiro and Joe Rogan were in my feeds. Jeez.

lobut,

Urgh, it makes me wonder why people do videos like this and think that Poilievre is going to be able to “fix” all this.

Then again, yeah, if it’s propaganda it’s just about sowing doubt.

lobut,

It’s weird because most hate it. I remember when Michael Moore’s movie came out and even those in red states were gathering together to say that if we let this go on then we’re complicit!

Then I think I remember Fox News and the right-wing going on a blitz. “Death Panels” and shit

youtu.be/JPa19PgTxZc?si=_M9f1k4noEEr0XJN

Look at this disinformation campaign. This is what pisses me off about this “both sides” bullshit. Also, whenever any comedian jerks themselves off about speaking the truth and being philosophers going off on woke when they shut their mouths about shit like this.
