Just like a year ago it was considered an essential part of modern discourse and society. The media was heavily dependent on Twitter. Now, Twitter has lost a lot of influence.
If Elon had simply kept his stupid mouth shut, he wouldn’t have been forced to buy the company, let alone for such a high price. Once purchased, if he had been less of a maniac and just managed Twitter in a boring way that maintained the status quo, then it would still be better off today than it currently is. Everything Elon has done has made the company less valuable and driven away users.
Some Amazon employees will be forced to relocate to fulfill a company policy requiring three days per week of in-office work, according to sources speaking with Bloomberg.
Amazon fires 5% of its workforce on a rolling basis whether they are actually underperforming or not. I would not relocate for an Amazon job. Then again, I would avoid working at Amazon at all costs.
I ran my delete script and notice some show up again later. I realized that those were in subreddits that had closed in protest making my comments inaccessible. When they reopened it became accessible again.
I honestly think they should introduce some element of scarcity. Like only match people with up to 5 people per week. This limits the selection and gives some room for people to focus a bit on having a proper conversation.
When I used dating apps the backlog of people to talk to was endless. Made it really hard to care about one person. You always had the feeling that you should maybe keep looking.
Academics do research and publish papers. Getting recognition for your research attracts grant funding and leadership opportunities. One could say this can corrupt the pursuit of truth and knowledge.
I’ve seen academics push colleagues to be cited in their papers in order to grow their influence. Counting citations is a way academics compete and try to show their value. It doesn’t necessarily correlate to quality research.
I’ve noticed the same thing with ChatGPT when I ask it to write some code. On first glance, it seems awesome and like it solved your question with ease. However, when you try to go forward and use it, or just look a bit more closely, you realize it has used classes or functions that don’t exist in the library it imports and it made up something. Or, it’s just wrong and not solving the question. This seems fine, but if you go three or four rounds trying to correct it with prompts, and it still gets it wrong, you start to look for other answers.
It’s often helpful for getting headed in the right direction and it has saved me some time, but it doesn’t write flawless code. It needs to be reviewed and corrected by a human.
Read rate limits are a thing too. It helps reduce scraping and keep your services online. But, I agree, the title is clickbait and there is a huge difference between limiting requests to something like 60 per minute and 500 tweets per day.
I mean… if you want to move to one of these states as potentially any type of person (ie. perhaps not white and straight) then the inclusive policies are not an optional feature. If you’re a woman, having the government meddle in your health decisions can actually be life threatening.
For white, straight folks, and especially males, it’s easy to think these other two factors just subjectively improve life, but that’s because they already have a baseline level of respect and power in society.
Based on your take, I’d guess you’re straight, white and male.

One time I needed to book a one way trip from one country to another. It was like $3000. So, I checked what it would cost for a round trip ticket and it was $2500. Which one would you book?
