reddig33,

It amazes me that Amazon (who owns MGM) has sat on this potentially lucrative franchise.

reddig33,

Primary runoff elections were held on some random Tuesday, just after a recent election on property taxes and other local issues. If you want voter turnout, elections need to be held on consistent days every year, and not some weird date pulled out of a hat when voters already just went to the polls.

Better yet, give us ranked choice primaries so there aren’t any runoffs.

Do you have a reliable citation for this claim besides someone’s YouTube video?

When Walgreens cuts prices, it’s usually shrinkflation. They often have deals on paper towels and toilet paper — but when you look at the sheet count, it’s about half of what you would get on the same roll at a grocery store.

Same for fluid ounces on things like dish and laundry soap.

The Secret Life of components: a series of eighteen guides for designers and makers by Tim Hunkin (www.youtube.com)

From the creator of the wonderful Secret Life of Machines of the 1970’s. This is a really fun and relaxing series that goes in-depth in a very approachable and non-rigid way of various componants and tools that would likely come in handy for a maker.

reddig33,

He’s posted remastered versions of “Secret Life of Machines” as well, and the series still holds up as relevant and enjoyable.

reddig33,

That looks amazing. Makes me wonder why they didn’t sell a monitor like this back in the day.

reddig33,

Not enough mini figs waiting in line for tech support.

reddig33,

Wtf is “popular.info”? Got a more reliable source?

Fiber doesn’t burn down huge swaths of the United States when a pole falls over. It’s not really “cheaper” after the lawsuits start rolling in.

Neighborhood backup batteries would help with this and help smooth out renewable energy.

reddig33,

There is already an industry shift away from Congolese cobalt.

A lot of EV batteries in the US are cobalt-free.

cnbc.com/…/samsung-panasonic-and-tesla-embracing-…

Other companies are sourcing cobalt from Morocco or domestic mines instead, or sourcing it from recycled batteries.

Newer EVs are using cobalt-free LFP batteries and energy storage is shifting to sodium ion.

Slammed!

Someone please buy Washington Post a thesaurus.

George Lucas Explains Why You’ll Never See A 4K Restoration of A New Hope (www.inverse.com)

The ones who were there 47 years ago remember it clearly: Han shot first. But in nearly every version of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope that you can find today, Harrison Ford’s charming smuggler was a little slow to the trigger in his face-off against Greedo — one of the many changes that director George Lucas made to the...

reddig33,

Never say never. Disney owns this now and can do whatever the hell they please with it.

reddig33,

Manure is the least of problems on factory farms. Eventually the manure pile is shipped off to make fertilizer and/or energy. If it’s not, then they are leaving money on the table.

  • Yars revenge on Atari 2600.
  • Kaboom on 2600.
  • Pitfall on 2600.
  • Myst on classic Mac.
  • Dark Castle classic Mac.
  • Diablo 1.
  • Star Wars Dark Forces.
  • That weird Ayn Rand utopia in the sky Bioshock sequel on any platform.
  • The Star Wars Battlefront game that came out around rogue one on Xbox until the developer started tweaking with it and it became a griefer’s paradise.
  • Gauntlet arcade and home versions. So fun to play as co-op.
  • Ms Pac Man arcade.
  • Tempest arcade.

And a shout out to Arashi, which was a great classic mac homage to Tempest.

Shitty western diet isn’t new though. Think of all the crap people ate and drank and smoked in the 1950s. They got cancer, but not early colorectal cancer in these numbers.

Texas should split into multiple states. There’s at least two blue states out of five in that mass of land.

Dr. Pulaski Appreciation Post (startrek.website)

I don’t know whether it’s a popular opinion or not, but I think Dr. Pulaski was a great character and I found her much more interesting than Dr. Crusher. I don’t know if it was down to the writing or the performance but Pulaski is one of the best parts of season 2 and I would have been happy to see her character continue....

reddig33,

Fantastic actress. She kicked ass as Rosalynd Sheas on L. A. Law among other great roles. Did a great job as Pulaski as well. I really wish Trek would give Pulaski a shout out on one of the other series currently in production.

If we had high speed rail in the US, this number would be far lower.

reddig33,

I tried, but I found gardening in general requires too much water here. Corn came out stunted and then died. Tomatoes, hot peppers, and roses seem to do well but that’s about it.

reddig33,

Ideas like “midichlorians”? Good riddance then.

reddig33,

NYT daily: I’m thinking something was lost when translating this one for the app. I eventually figured out the “stair step” squares, but where were the clues for the vertical answers they produced?
