What is interesting about me. Lets see.
I am a coder. Main language is Moo but I also know Lua. I am a musician. Main thing is drums but I also play bass and keys. I am an Audio engineer mostly working in the live audio world. I am just trying to figure out life and be happy doing it!

I don’t know why this just popped into my head. OK, so Apple removed the physical Sim cards from their new phones. That kind of destroys the dual Sim functionality they bragged about.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 NO it doesn't. You can have two ESims.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 No you're not.

I am needing a way to transfer files from many PC's to a main host machine. The PC's will constantly be being rotated around. Dropbox is out because I don't feel like installing dropbox on over 60 machines for just 5 minutes at a time. I could use the standard USB drive method but am wanting to use as few parts as possible Does anyone have an idea? My thought was build a file server using this old ubuntu laptop but I am not sure.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@simon It might. I'll give it a try.

FluidEscence, to random

So. Linux people. Fedora? Yes or no. Have a testing machine I can throw it on if it's worth my time.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@fireborn @FluidEscence I didn't have any luck with it either when I was required to install it for school.

simon, to random

Well this is certainly enlightening. And will also offend a lot of Taylor Swift fans, no doubt. https://youtu.be/ulli06xpzqQ?si=MTUqZI6Dm5qwQrHH

@simon He's right on so many levels here. God damn.

It's all fucking broken. Why did I believe my ex wife when she said I could learn Ubuntu and run my own VPS? I clearly don't know what I'm doing.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@sasquatch I use linode. Have for three or so years. I may restore at this point. It'll suck as far as reinstalling moo servers and other things but.. At this rate it may be the best option.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@simon @sasquatch I am working on that currently. I broke the world so am just going to restore and start over. It's the only way I"ll learn.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@simon I think the most annoying thing for me is logging into squarespace to add the new IP to the domains. Why can't I just keep my same 45.meowmeow?

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@simon I actually got it without much bitching. I only had to tell it to fuck off once! That being said... I am paying for four domains? Time to stop that like right now.

simon, to random

You lost the game.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@simon You lost by -2992 points with a total HP of -228227 remaining. Connection closed.

If I see this bass error one more time, I will turn off speaking of bass errors! /j. Error: 47, unknown BASS error code 47

spaciath,

@FluidEscence please please do this.

@FluidEscence Fair! But what if I don't care what went wrong!

So how can I let people know my server rules in a consistent fashion? It’s not hard. Just behave and don’t invite the stalker

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 You can update your servers MOTD from the server properties..

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 You have as much space for an MOTD as you want I think. It's been awhile since I looked. Give me a few to finish this moo code I am writing and I'll spin up my server to check.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 This is the text that is in my MOTD section.

Thanks to everybody who helped me make sure things are running in perfect working order. I also think I can safely say we will still be functional in 24 hours.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 Did you end up going with TTHub?

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 Good! I used them for awhile before hosting my own VPS.

evilcookies98, to random
@evilcookies98@dragonscave.space avatar

Does anybody know where I can get an affordable TeamTalk server for my own use? Mine kind of died like a lot of months ago and now I have no good spots to host movie night. I don’t want to have to sell a kidney to pay for it, but I am willing to pay a reasonable amount of money.

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@evilcookies98 Talk to @simon. I think he still does TTHub stuff.

TheQuinbox, to random

My laptop's sound driver, among many others, has this absolutely infuriating behavior where it puts the sound card to sleep after a particular amount of silence (mine's seemingly after 5 seconds), causing a screen reader user to miss the beginning of speech, an audio file, a notification, or anything else they may be trying to listen to. To solve this, I wrote this little program. Simply run it, and it'll start piping silent audio through your default sound card, which has fixed it on every machine I've tried. It should also respect device changes (e.g. unplugging headphones). To close it, simply click on the tray icon. It doesn't get much simpler than that. https://quinbox.xyz/files/SleepSoundly.zip

spaciath,
@spaciath@dragonscave.space avatar

@TheQuinbox I have needed something like this for years! Thank you!
