I use Dvorak for three days and all of a sudden, Mastodon thinks I'm tying in German. ffs

Is it just me or do the default wallpapers feel increasingly depressing?

@fabiscafe Fedora is entering it's edgy Gen-z phase.

So I have been back to using ZSH for the last couple of weeks, this time without ohmyzsh.

For those of you who use zsh, I seem to remember zsh having much better tab complete. Like I could type 'downloads' and it would autocorrect to Downloads.

Mine doesn't do that. I know there's a line in zshrc that needs to be added, I did that. Anyone know why I don't get that feature? Or was that part of omyzsh and I'm just going to have to deal

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@sashin That's a shame. I can't use ohmyzsh anymore because it kept messing with my alias file, only using part of it.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@stefur Yeah, that doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@stefur nvm, it did work. It works if I tab before I hit enter to execute the command. Maybe that's the way it always worked and I just remember different magic

It's true. The file mangers for GTK are sub par across the board.

Thunar should be it. But it doesn't remember closing position well. It's supposed to, but it does not. At least past 5 tabs. Also, it has this odd behavior where you open a tab thinking one pane is in focus, but it opens it in the other pane. Very annoying.

Nautilus is still the slowest thing I've ever seen because it does not like that I have my open home folder and the regular location of XDG-DIRS are empty.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

And then I said eff it, let's install Krusader, and it is horrendous on Gnome. IDK why but it won't resize and the drag and drop causes major freezing. May try Dolphin, but don't have high hopes.

I did install Double Commander again. I don't care for how helter-skelter the settings are, but if I can get it to work the way I want, then so be it.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@sashin No, it won't remember closing position and it keeps opening tabs in the wrong pane.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

I know people think that I place too much weight on a file manager, but I can't express how much I use it. I drag and drop things all around, it's my primary way of moving files around the system. I know I could use the terminal, and it dings by nerd cred to admit it, but I don't want to use the terminal to move files around.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@gentoobro I'd try that again, but I know it annoys me too much. It has this odd highlighting when you do dual pane, where the one that is highlighted is the one that isn't active. And then it also doesn't remember the tabs that were open when it was closed.

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@JLW_the_Jobber afaik, that doesn't remember position at all. And I'm not sure it has dual pane

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@toad If only kde wasn't so damn buggy

thelinuxcast,
@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org avatar

@toad I think if the bugs weren't so game breaking. Like the monitors not waking up sometimes or wayland session crashing for no reason. I think it's just a hardware issue for me

Man, I like the idea of having a suckless system but when I read over the documentation I just start to think that the suckless crew are a bunch of dicks. Which makes me not want to be associated with the lot.

@JLW_the_Jobber They do that to scare noobs away.

@mkljczk not threads as in the platform. Thread as in the long conversation

Day two of the challenge, and I do feel faster, but sometimes it feels like I just stare at my keyboard blankly without any clue what letter I'm supposed to be pressing next.
