yesman,

Woke is the exact same criticism the right has had for the left for about 60 years. Before it was “woke”, it was “politically correct”, and before it was politically correct it was “bleeding-heart”.

Conservatives love to recycle, at least when it comes to ideals.

yesman,

The TRUTH is that brain-eating Aliens did visit earth; they landed at a UFO convention and died of malnutrition.

yesman,

Companies like Similar Web use web traffic data to measure what’s going on with a website.

It’s kinda like standing outside a store and counting the number of people going in, and timing how long they stay. You can’t know what they’re doing inside the store, but you can deduce a lot about the business.

yesman,

I’m not sure if it was an accident, but you make an excellent point juxtaposing classism with racism.

Rioter who hurled bow like a spear at police during Jan. 6 attack gets more than 7 years in prison (apnews.com)

A professional butcher whose bloody, wild-eyed face became one of the most memorable images of the U.S. Capitol riot was sentenced Thursday to more than seven years in prison for hurling a bow like a spear at police and attacking several other officers.

yesman,

When you’re talking about police on Jan6, you have to specify if you mean the ones defending the capital or the ones attacking it. Or maybe you men the ones who were supposed to defend the capital but decided to be ushers and tour-guides instead.

There were very fine pigs on both sides.

yesman,

Everyone is arguing about adoption and IVF while totally ignoring the most important thing. This is really going to piss off the right-wingers!

yesman,

Islamophobia just means bigotry against Muslims and it’s perfectly legitimate and often apt.

This whole routine about calling Muhammad a pedo or the Koran “the mother-load of bad ideas” was cute back in 2012, but it tunes out that the bad ideology in danger of being legitimized was reactionary politics in the skeptic community.

yesman,

This is like Putin vs. Prigozhin. I’m happy they’re fighting, but sad that one will win.

yesman,

That’s what I thought. But after pre-ordering a game recently, when I went to launch, the process of unpacking/unencrypting took at least as long as downloading the thing from scratch.

So if you’ve a good internet connection and a mid cpu like me, pre-downloading is not an advantage.

yesman,

I don’t understand why some approve of the beer-gut-putsch, but that’s all white.

yesman,

Gary Webb shot himself in the head twice and the CIA has been trying to take credit for his achievement ever since.

Gunshot wounds to the head are 42% survivable. According to the LA Times, his fist shot had entered near the right ear and exited through his face, while the second hit an artery.

…yale.edu/…/gunshot-wound-to-the-head-not-a-death…

latimes.com/…/la-xpm-2005-mar-16-et-webb16-story.…

Webb’s life was in shambles. Independent journalists investigators had criticized his reporting, specifically on the links between the cartels and the CIA. He was unemployed and his marriage was over

According to his ex-wife:

The way he was acting it would be hard for me to believe it was anything but suicide

Webb’s reporting on the “Dark Alliance” was almost a decade old when he died; discredited and forgotten.

So are we going to believe the official story that the CIA has a revenge squad that silences critics 10 years after the fact, or that Webb was a sad man with a bad aim?

yesman,

The most important thing we learned from the Dominion lawsuit was that the FOX network steered it’s coverage to appease the deplorables. So at least in this instance, it was the viewers radicalizing the network, not the other way round.

I think it’s time we consider that capital-C Conservatives haven’t been tricked or manipulated into being awful.

yesman,

This is my favorite comment on Lemmy so far. Someone thinks your being dismissive of gender issues and your defense is: No-no, I was talking about the Jews.

yesman,

Everyone living depends on huge networks of interdependent actors for basic survival. Never mind quality of life. The political reality of the individual is that they are the smallest and weakest political unit; least equipped to petition for change.

Conservatism may have individualism all over the label, but conformity is what’s inside the box.

yesman,

Everyone should try Sekiro! Especially the folks who slept on the Souls-Borne genre before Elden Ring.

The combat system is punishing. And it ain’t Dark Souls. But when it clicks you get the power fantasy of Sanjuro, Seven Samurai, Kill Bill, and Star Wars.
