Same, I've been at it for a few months too. I've lost count of how many times I've had to re-run all the tools and patchers... Nemesis, Synthesis, Dyndolod... some manual patching in xEdit and oh look, a new mod! And this mod just updated, and this one too... here we go again
Whether you started with a 2600 and a joystick in your hand, an N64 with a blistered palm or building your first PC in your teens, what is that one video game you've played at some point that to this day sits at the top of your list.
Like some already said, I too love Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Elder Scrolls, Zelda TP and Stardew Valley. It's hard for me to chose a favorite game… There's a few of them I equally like, and it kinda changes depending on my mood.
Saints Row 2 is one I haven't seen mentioned yet. There's always something fun to do in this game and it’s hard to get tired of it. The map is packed full of interesting stuff, feels bigger than it actually is. And without writing a novel about it, I like the story a lot. It's a perfect balance between wacky and serious, plus the characters are great. Truly underrated game imo. Shame what happened to the series…
The best part of video games back in the day was making memories with your friends, now it all feels like structured fun. “This is how you play the game and this is when you are supposed to have fun” Idk if that makes sense.
Yeah... I barely pay attention to new releases anymore and I stick to older games that I like. This is also why I prefer to play games that can be modded, so I can make my own fun.
For me, this is the injection of anesthesia at my latest consultation at the dentist, it was so painful that i screamed to him. Anesthesia is rarely a time of pleasure, but damn, it has never been so painful.
I relate to that, needles in the palate/gums is no fun...
My most painful experience though was when my kneecap dislocated and stuck to the side of my leg. Happened twice in my life. The first time when I was ice skating and the second just climbing stairs. Had to take an ambulance trip to the hospital :/
I finally managed to see a Little Ringed Plover (Flussregenpfeifer, lit. “River Rain Whistler) from up close! They’re so tiny and adorable, I love them! :-)...
Cyberpunk 2077 faced a tough reception at launch, but with the Phantom Liberty DLC nearing launch, one CDPR dev feels the RPG was better than history records....
If they hadn't over-promised things and straight up lied, it would have been received better. A lot of what they said was gonna be in the game still isn't, and likely won't ever be...
I used to try to build the wackiest terrains in Sims 2, the tallest mountains with a house on top and things like that. Also messed around with cheat codes most of the time, building graveyards and killing sims in every way imaginable, you know just regular stuff…
Runescape is definitely a unique experience! I remember being really pissed when I had my favorite cape stolen after I got killed in the wastelands (or whatever it's called) by another player. I used to try going as far as possible to kill the demons there, the danger gave me a thrill lol. I had to cook so many fish and fill my inventory to stay alive.
Zelda Phantom Hourglass and Zelda Twilight Princess are also very near and dear to my heart. I must have played through PH at least 10 times. I harassed my mom endlessly to get a DS and she ended up addicted to the game too lol.
As for TP, i don't know if it’s the nostalgia but no other Zelda game came close to dethroning it for me. I don't see it talked about as much as the others. I love the atmosphere of this game, the story, the world, the characters… I still get the creeps just thinking about the floating hands in the twilight realm lol. I had to look up a guide to find all the insects, I wanted to collect everything. The minigames were so fun too, albeit frustrating at times. The one where you try to find all the cats in the Hidden village was my favorite I think, the western music alone was just too good lol. Also bc I love cats.
These are the ones I remember loving the most but I'm probably forgetting some. Above all I think I loved video games (and still do) because they provided an escape from the real world, where the anxiety just faded away whenever I was playing.
I know that we NEED more content at Kbin, Lemmy and all the Fediverse in order for them to grow and substitute Reddit and other networks, but sometimes I just feel really happy that I can open my app and read almost everything that was posted in the last few hours without being suffocated by a billion of new posts....
Exactly my thoughts! I don't have any fear of missing out here. It can get overwhelming trying to catch up on posts when there's just too many. I subscribed to a lot of communities on the fediverse after joining, but I think I'll have to leave a few soon as they become more popular...
Edit: it also keeps me from wasting too much time on the internet lol
I had never heard of XMPP before, thanks for sharing. I'm in favor of blocking Meta completely. I came to the fediverse to specifically avoid those other places…
"The Fediverse is not looking for growth. It is offering a place for freedom."
I'm very thankful for that. Great article.
It's been a few years since I played this game, but I remember loving the combat mechanics. Jumping and climbing on enemies is really cool. Though I installed a few mods to make it a bit easier... I’m not a fan of difficult combat lol. Too bad I couldn’t get into the story enough to keep playing, since that’s essential for me to enjoy anything. The constant comments from the pawns were getting repetitive too and kinda took me out of the experience. I tried playing the Dark Souls series and couldn’t get into it either.
The character creation/customization is one thing I really appreciate from Dragon’s Dogma, I haven't seen a lot of games that have the same options like changing the height, posture, and things like that.
Working on modlists more than playing
I’ve now been working on my next modlist for nearly four months. screaming internally...
