Hariette is hard at work to create an alpha release that is stable enough to start rolling out. Follow https://kbin.social/m/ArtemisApp (!ArtemisApp for you Lemmy users) for more updates and announcements on the app....
Hmm. I typed @hariette@kbin.social I didn't actually use a URL. I did that because I wasn't sure if I just typed @hariette how it would appear on Lemmy
For all we know Christian is talking to a lawyer behind the scenes, it's typically not recommended by attorneys to announce that you plan on suing someone
hariette@tech.lgbt - #kbin + #lemmy app is coming along. Here's a preview of the upcoming beta. This is less than a week’s worth of work, so it’s only up from here 😉...
A lot of us come from reddit, so we're naturally inclined to want a reddit-like platform. However, it occurred to me that the reddit format makes little sense for the fediverse....
Yea, I was looking at the documentation for creating your own instance. Obviously it's not going to be a walk in the park, but I wasn't sure if there was something like a check for a low user count instance or something that's not quite so obvious to self-hosters.
I'm going to give it a go sometime this week, even if I don't end up hosting my own instance, I think there's a lot of valuable information that I'll learn both about kbin and the fediverse in general. Thank you.
That's one thing I'm worried about, too. I haven't set up a website before, but I believe I have the skill set to figure it out. Just don't want to waste my time doing all the legwork only for my user experience to be worse due to using my own instance instead of one of the "big" ones.

So far all of the dev work has been done by Hariette herself. Full credit to her, I'm just promoting it because it really looks quite great in my opinion.
So you're currently signed in to the lemmy.world instance. I am signed in to the kbin.social instance. I don't want to recreate my account over on a Lemmy instance just so I can use the Jerboa app or any of the other alternatives.
You are able to post and see posts from kbin due to federation, but you would not be able to log in to a kbin instance on the Jerboa app.
The Artemis App (the app in the OP) will allow users to sign in with EITHER a Lemmy instance or a kbin instance
I'm really not happy with Lemmy so far. Its a great community and a cool concept, but the amount of bugs I am experiencing is really starting to put me off....
[x-post]Private beta for Artemis App (for kbin/Lemmy) will be rolling out at the end of June 2023. (kbin.social)

[Discussion] I don't think this format makes a lot of sense for the fediverse

Are there any downsides to hosting your own instance?
I'm curious about this, I have a server that I used to use for a Minecraft server, but it has been shut off for a while....
