(Reuters) -Hopes are fading that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister have survived a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain and icy weather, an Iranian official said on Monday after search teams located the wreckage. “President Raisi’s helicopter was completely burned in the crash … unfortunately, all...
I don't think so. First countries like this are usually ruled by the upper echelon as a whole, with the president being mostly a figurehead (that sometimes holds a fair bit of power nonetheless), so even if it was Khomeini it wouldn't be too much of a shake-up (or maybe it would; Idk where Khomeini lies on the figurehead-dictator scale). Also more immediately this is Raisi, not Khomeini. Still an important guy, but not the capital S Supreme Ruler.
Pretty sure nobody cares, but man as a third world country guy it feels weird as fuck to see these reasonable-looking numbers only to multiply by 50 and get a heart attack.
I mean I hate the shit out of Israel and the US but this ain't it. Israel has nothing at all to gain from doing something like this and turning the figurehead (who doesn't actually present a material loss for Iran) into a martyr. This does everything to weaken opposition to the Irani regime and strengthen said regime and nothing to give Israel an advantage in their conflict with them.
Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said on Sunday that the Israeli army should create a security zone in southern Lebanon should Hezbollah not heed an Israeli ultimatum to withdraw from the border area. He also called on the security cabinet to order a permanent military presence “in all of the Gaza Strip.”...
I've never used a Mac but my experience with iPhones and iPads (not mine) has convinced me to never touch anything Apple makes. The requirement of iTunes to send files between an iPhone and a PC is, for example, just ridiculous.
My man even if anybody was going to he convinced by this (they won't be; you're about 20000 dead Gazans too late), you're on Lemmy. Trying to shout down people who refuse to vote for Genocide Joe doesn't change the fact that he is Genocide Joe and there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people who are not willing to do it. And almost none of them are on Lemmy.

The New Orleans City Council Friday denounced the targeted antisemitic attack on one of its staff members after the front of their home and an Israeli flag hanging on it
Ok, so when was the last time someone was stabbed over a Nazi flag?
I never defended stabbing people over raising the Israeli flag. The person in the article is mad someone put some paint on a small part of their home. Their safety wasn't threatened in any way. Also making it clear Zionism is not okay does contribute to ending the violence. Israel's genocide (and more general ethnic cleansing project) lives and dies by Western public goodwill.
hey launched ballistic missiles and cruise missiles along side a ton of drones. They had no way to know that the defense would destroy almost all of it against ahead of time.
The defense was Israel, the US, the UK and I think someone else I don't remember. There was no way they were overwhelming all of that, and they knew it. Remember that they warned ahead of time and gave everyone time to prepare for the attack. If they wanted to deal damage they'd at least do a surprise attack.
Again, Iran never wanted war with Israel. They needed to save face after Israel bombed their consulate, but were never after a full blown conflict.
