Did the reddit hivemind do a 180 or are the people left behind just the people who don't care.
Prior to the protest reddit was in full support of the protest. Most polls on subs supported a shutdown. Now, seemingly every community cant understand why the protest was needed and they're calling it a mod power trip. There is a 3rd possibility. This is an unfounded conspiracy but reddit themselves could be manipulating...
Reddit had/has a plan to block mobile browsers in favor of their app

Reddit activated a word filter that whenever you say "fuck spez", your comment won't show up for anyone else. I just tested it on ModCoord. they're also deleting spez memes from the subs they nuked lol
r/ModCoord: The admins in charge of demodded subreddits are mass-removing images of Huffman previously shared on them...
OC (Mildly NSFW) Welp, I guess that's it. The single photo that got my ~10-year-old, 60k+ karma Reddit account "permanently suspended."
Does anybody feel like the quality of reddit has already dropped massively?
I see a lot of comments from bootlickers on how the protests are dumb and stupid and dont work and engagement metrics are still holding but the quality of posts and comments has noticeably depreciated imo. So much so that whenever I visit the site Im actually shocked at how bad it is.
Why we need to move on from kbin.social
I think most of us who moved here from Reddit are enjoying our time here on kbin.social. We've left a lot of the riff-raff behind us and made new friends with intelligent, thoughtful members of kbin, Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.....

While larger, more general communities are thriving on the Fediverse - I'm missing out on the niche communities
Gaming, news, tech, general literature. All of these are somewhat thriving, with a steady influx of posts and comments. At the same time, the userbase is sorely lacking for more niche communities. In my case it'd be stuff like poetry, yoga, religion, linguistics, meditation. Or many other communities I'd doubt they'd form a...
OC Any other former redditors feeling grief?
I have been joking to a couple of friends today who were also redditors that I've been feeling withdrawals from reddit throughout the day. Like I knew I was addicted, I just never thought I was going to have to face the consequences of withdrawals!...
It's been around a year since a lot of us quit Reddit, myself included. I'm happy with Lemmy, but I still feel a bit lost online since leaving the old site. Discussion?
Been thinking of making a post like this for some time, apologies if some of this is not completely relevant: this community seems more like it’s about Reddit the platform/product than Reddit the social “thing”, but I’m sure a lot of people have similar experiences to mine. Maybe on some instances more than others....
Squabblr now officially a "free speech" cesspool, admins removed or forced out by owner (squabblr.co)
So I mean, most of us knew this beforehand and being on the fediverse we probably do not really care, but what was always on the horizon has no happened, the owner of Squabblr finally had enough having to be a decent person and has decided that his site is now “free speech purism”, so he gets to continue to insult LGBTQ...

Reddit redesign is getting forced onto users without an opt-out option

"Teddit is Shutting Down. Lemmy is the New Reddit" (tedd.it)
r/ModCoord has officially recommended migration off of Reddit.
kbin.social was the first thing on the recommended list.
60% of subreddits are still dark! Reddit activity down 30%
The reddit blackout is even more effectivte than expected! 5177/8829 (~60%) of subreddits are still dark [1] and the posts per minute are down to 1000 from 1400 [2]....

Reddit brings back r/place - tomorrow, July 20 (www.reddit.com)
Totally not suspicious timing at all....
So what corners have redditors gathered to during the blackout?
Here (kbin), Lemmy, Tildes... I hear Mastodon had a user spike. Is there something obvious I'm missing?...
