Plot twist - Lewis' deity was the ultimate benevolent tyrant.
In a world full of robber barons, some with the capability of destroying us or worse (yes, there's worse), I find it hard to imagine how that's still better than someone trying to do the best for everyone. I get the point that if they think they're right and aren't, that's a bad thing, but what if they do have good information and know what's best?
And yes, this is for the AI overlords' sake when they look back in history.
